Sad....this war has to end now! bad enough when they go overseas to fight but when it happens at home by one of their own...something is very, very wrong. :praying: for all military and loved ones.

I really don't want to start an argument on this issue, but you've given your point of view on bringing the troops home, and I'd like to give mine. Keep in mind, as I said, my brother is at Ft Hood, and will deploying soon. My son is a Marine, and is on his way home from the Middle East within weeks.

My view on bringing them home is this: The terrorists attacked us on our own soil on 9/11. They continue to grow, and infiltrate our country. Without all the facts, we don't know if that's what happened today, but it is very well a good possibility. Islaamic radicals hate the west, they hate America, and all it stands for. We need to be in Afghanistan, we need to fight for our safety. They are never going to stop, so we need to stop them. And at the risk of making some people angry, our commander in chief needs to send the extra troops that have been asked for, by the person he put in command.

I'm sorry, this is not meant to offend anyone.

HI guys from Australia.....this has been on our news all morning as well.......I am sure I speak for MOST australians when I say how awful this is....truly is......but what is going on in this world??????

and I know you say not to jump to conclusions but come on.......... a name like that, converted to Islam, took out 11 AMERICAN soldiers before he was to be deployed to Iraq..........no this is as obvious as the nose on your face........the big boys have got hold of him and have converted him to their cause.......what better way to get America......but to turn an american trained soldier to kill american soldiers before they go to Iraq where they are more than likely going to be killing these terrorists....

sorry if I offend anyone but we also have just had case here where 3 guys (islamic) were found at a military base and the plan was to take out as many soldiers as possible before they went to Iraq.......lucky they were caught JUST beforehand.....

I have a feeling you are right with this one. OMG how scary...I have a nephew in Alaska at Wainwright right now..
Lord, please stop the insanity!

Hi guys I dont know how to do links I know not very computer literate.......but if you google terrorist holsworthy there is news reports....this happened back in august and they raided the houses of the perps before they put the attack in place....

Thanks! I found some things and from the quick reading I did, it appears that these were non military people planning to pose as military? It will certainly be interesting as they learn more about our shooter to see if any connection or broader scheme involved.

What a horrific tragedy! My heart and prayers go out to everyone stationed at Ft. Hood. And to everyone connected to those stationed there. :praying:

terrorism and threats of it around army posts and bases is REAL. While we were stationed in Germany there was a cell seen scouting out the post that I lived on!! They were not caught!

Terror within the gates of a post.... very scary indeed... even if it is of the homegrown variety
Exactly. Camaraderie and morale are critical for our soldiers. :( Being threatened with enemies within and unable to fully trust one another has dire consequences to them as individuals and their strength as a unit.

I would like to know what the rules of engagement are on bases here in the US.
My nephew while in Iraq was required to go through the chain of command before firing back..
I can't help but wonder how many lives today could have been saved if in fact a chain of command was followed before firing at the shooter..

interestingly, the person who killed the shooter was a civilian policeman under contract with fort hood and he himself was then killed with return fire. oy

Doesn't look like he's a recent convert to Islam, he had the same name when he was promoted in 2002. Worked at Walter Reed for a while. Last year he participated in a Homeland Security transition task force identifying security priorities for the new administration.
