retired colonel who worked with the shooter attended a conference with him 6 months ago. he heard him publicly stated that muslims should rise up against the usa. commented within earshot of news folks that usa was the aggressor in the middle east and that we should get out. was told by this colonel to "zip it" because military should not disparage commander in chief. this retired colonel observed the shooter getting more and more agitated over the last 6 months and he is very upset that this major was transferred from walter reed to fort hood if there was knowledge of mental issues and/or anti-government views. there were apparently many altercations with other soldiers concerning religion and politics

This is very scary, it's very sly terrorism. There may be more like these 3 shooters on other bases, they really need to check all of them. It's essential.
Infiltrate our military and then carry out attacks on fellow soldiers, all the while the "terrorist" is in our army!

yes they are... unless you have registered your car. if you live or work or are stationed on post you have to register your pov.

when you go thru the gate your id card is checked. I do this hundreds of times a day.

your car is not searched if you have a sticker because you are registered on post.

if you have no sticker there is another lane where you show your car registration and your car may be searched and where I am currently stationed... they search 100% of the nonregistered vehicles.

eta: okay not hundreds of times a day but enough and long enough to know what I am talking about

That's my point... if you are registered on post, you can show your ID, say howdy do, etc., move on. I'm a wife of a Marine... I know too. :D

Are they now saying that the lone psychiatrist did this? I don't beleive that. My first thoughts are that he's been an undercover terrorist for awhile.

I agree with you completely, they need to check all the bases for soldiers that may fit a similiar profile, it may not just be an isolated case in Ft. Hood, although i hope it is an anomaly.

Wow what was that ending all about???

  • #445
Sounds like he had no place being in there in the first place! Sounds to me like Hasan stuck it out because he was making a six-figure income!

Boy, Nadar Hasan sure ended that convo with Shep abruptly!

Cousin of shooter on Fox news..
Saying he has always been Muslim never converted to Islam.

If it was a conspiracy (3 involved) i'd think it was, then he would have kept his Islamic conversion secret..

yes! nothing was done after the conference!!! and he himself was trying to get out of the military!!!! holy moly. they would not release him. he had the military pay for his college and medical school (how i understand it) and was trying to negotiate with them to pay the military back so he could get out. he was terrified of being deployed. he also told his family (his cousin is on fox) that he hired a military lawyer to help him. oh, and he was born and raised in virginia and born and raised muslim. he was not a convert.

From an Army wife:

I have to say that the generalization and HATRED of the Islam religion that I have seen today on this site makes me sick.
I hope that we had no valued members of this website that were Muslim. If we did, I am sure if they set their eyes upon this thread they will be no longer!

I have not been a member here long, and I don't want to stir the pot but the things that I have seen today make me physically SICK!
Would I be reading the same type of religious hate had this man been Catholic, with a name like Isaiah? I DOUBT IT!

Just to let you know its not always a "religious" thing. My neighbor at Ft. Campbell blew up his whole family along with the building of six other families that he lived in before a deployment. He was not connected to Islam, nor was he Muslim. He was actually Baptist and had just been in church the day before!

carry on and flame away!

That's horrible she feels this way, I did not think the religion itself was being attacked. I myself belong to a religion that is much maligned. I'm just shocked that his feelings were well known and nothing was done about it.

FBI Could be making contact with the family to obtain information about him.

So he attends this conference, voices very disturbing views, with who knows how many high ranking officers, and nothing is done but to tell him to "zip it". Incredible.
believe it or not... soldiers have all different kinds of religious and political beliefs. We are currently stationed with a satanist (who refuses to be in any unit pictures due to his religious beliefs). Will hindsight be 20/20 here... most likely...

but telling him to "zip it"... yeah.. that is what is expected... you can have your personal beliefs but you do not broadcast them around. Having beliefs does not get you booted out... He obviously had a lot more warning signs that he was about to have a melt down... and that surly needs to be looked at..

All I know is Daughter's MIl is still locked down and the cell service sucks, but the rumor is there may still be another shooter and that's why they are still locked down........local rumor I should say.

  • #453
I got that. I was only responding to the post that said officers are not checked like everyone else.

And yes, he could legally bring his guns on post in his trunk if they were registered. And even if they were not registered and he had a sticker on his car.... all he would have had to do was drive thru the gate after showing his id card. I agree.

Just wanted to clear up the front gate issue... there is a process there to secure the post...

nothing at the front gate could have prevented this from happening.

You're certainly right about officers being given the same scrutiny (or lack thereof as the case may be) as enlisted members. Nowdays, I doubt that all the civilian gate guards really know there's a distinction between commissioned officers and enlisted. They call my husband "Sir," and he's a Navy Chief (not a good move, really.)

If he was extremely mentally ill or said he was homosexual and made advances i'd sure they'd let him out. There are ways to get out of the military if you absolutely don't want to be in there.

I have no problem with any religion, I do have a problem with any FOOL who steps into a military base and kills innocent soldiers! I have a problem with it no matter if they were catholic, Islamic, Christians, or Muslim! It makes no difference! Most soldiers who committ these horrible acts because of a mental problem go after their families, themselves..not their fellow soilders..
This was a pure hate crime.:furious:
A retired soldier was just on Fox news talking about his radical beliefs..
I am sorry you are offended, but this has nothing to do with religion, this is pure terror!

Watching Fox and the Senator sure is gossipy!

  • #457
Some people are being allowed to leave ft hood

That was my thought lisa. That convo ended so abruptly, I figured the authorities may be there to question the family.

Now reporting people were targeted.
