Details of Disappearance​

Schmidt was last seen in Fort Worth, Texas on January 25, 2008. She has never been heard from again. Few details are available in her case.

Not sure either although she has ties to several places in TX as several in FL. What a mystery and nothing out there on her after her disappearance. Thanks for sharing the articles, they show a glimpse into her life.

Mindy ended up in Texas initially because she was going to become a truck driver. She had had some substance abuse issues and we always wondered if she had fallen in with the wrong crowd. She’s been missing since I was 15. She has a son who we know she wouldn’t have simply abandoned. I’ll always hold out hope that we might find some sort of lead as to what happened to her.

Do you have any idea where she was staying in Texas or with who she was staying. Did she mention anybody or any places in her last communication with family? How long had it been since she communicated with family before the missing persons report?

Unfortunately due to my age at the time, not a lot of information was shared with me. I know that she was in Fort Worth and that she had been renting from a man who I believe later when talked to said he hadn’t heard from her, but that she better hope he didn’t because apparently something had gone wrong between them and she may have owed him money.

I last saw her at our father’s funeral in 2006. My mother last spoke to her in late October 2007, shortly after my mother’s birthday (October 25th). Our family receives a trust check each January from our dad’s estate and in January 2008 when Mindy didn’t claim hers, that’s when the family knew something was very wrong. She was always needing money and always made sure she collected that check. So sometime between October 2007 and January 2008, something clearly went wrong. My oldest sister hired a private investigator at one point but it didn’t yield many results. We eventually had to declare her deceased so that her son would be able to access her portion of the trust.
