Hopefully the media will cover the trial (don't forget to send them an email asking them to!)
I am glad to see that we have more people in Jonathan's thread!
Hopefully we will have more people here for the trial than I thought we would. :seeya:

One thing I was never clear on, was exactly how she killed him. Did she burn him while still alive? That's just horrendous. Or did she kill him first somehow then try to burn him up? Hate typing those words but wth?? And did she ever give a reason as to why?

We never did get a straight answer.
There WAS reports that he was burned alive.
I'm sure that will come out at trial, it does appear we are still going to trial.

I have never forgotten Jonathan and have always checked to see if a trial date has been set. I am glad to see that soon Jonathan will get the justice he so richly deserved.

I think there are more women like Mona Nelson than we may realize. It hasn't been until recently that cases like Jonathan's even made the news and even Jon's case didn't get nearly as much attention as others have. Often if the media picks a case up the victim is a little girl and the perpetrator a male.

I remember reading a heinous case out of either NY or NJ where a woman tortured a young girl and raped her repeatedly with a screwdriver until she died. It reminded me of Huckabee's same MO to little Sandra Cantu.

It happened in the late 70s or 80s. One thing I did read when the Sandra Cantu case happened is woman often will torture their victims so Mona seems to fit this profile. They find it thrilling to torture the victim and it is a sexual turn on.

The only motive I have ever been able to come up with is she sexually abused Jonathan and he told her he was going to tell on her. What she made Jon go through after then is something right out of a horror movie yet it was reality for this little guy.:)

Is this a death penalty case or does this state not have the death penalty? Mona Nelson is a monster and deserves nothing less than death.

I also think a lot of these unsolved cases where young children are never found could be the victim of a female pedophile. They seem to float right under the radar because society doesn't or even LE doesn't look for females who could have done the kidnapping/rape and murders.

IMO

Here is just one site about female sex offenders. They are pretty much like males. Most predators don't murder their victims, neither gender, but then some do.

It list several cases for this year alone but we never hear about them in the national news.

http://femalesexoffenders.com/fso/

A few years back a town about 25 miles away from mine had a teacher who was preforming oral sex on a little 9 year old boy over and he always told her he didn't want to do that. They gave her 25 years but most women who do the same acts as men just get probation or a slap on the wrist when it comes to preying on underage children.

IMO

Does anyone know how a trial by judge works? (I mean operations-wise). Do they still have an open courtroom? Does it last as long as a jury trial? Do they still have side-bars if there is no jury to overhear arguments regarding possible objections? I'm not trying to be dense, - this case really got to me and I've never seen a trial by judge. I'm afraid its all going to be over and done with by lunchtime....behind closed doors.

Which I don't know if I would consider to be proper Justice for Jonathan.

(Not that I'm dissing the Court or S.A. in any way). It bothers me greatly that this whole case has seemed to stay under the radar. I know it's just me, but it makes me feel like this case didn't matter as much as some others. Despicable and heart-breaking. I want giant flood-lights in her face while they tell the whole world what she did. With nowhere to hide. Like a cockroach. Not anymore. No disrespect to cockroaches.

I'm in complete agreement with you, zoomom. I don't know anything about a jury waiver either, but I also feel let down that she won't be judged by her peers.

In any case, I'm anxious to see justice served for Jonathan. Been far too long.

I'll be there for the trial. This one has to go down. There is no explanation she can give to feel any sympathy for her. I can't think of anything.

I don't remember a lot of facts on this case, did she watch him for the mother. .

No, the story initially was that he was with a babysitter.
However, he was home alone (which wasn't a problem, he was 12 years old.)

Mona Nelson was knew the roommate of Jonathan's mother, she was also a maintenance person.

Hi!

Can you explain this to me? How do you know it's a reindictment? Maybe I'm just dense or looking at the wrong thing.....any help would be appreciated!

Okay. I think I get it? Is it because the dates are different?

thanks

No idea, but the case numbers are different as well.

I cannot wait for this monster to know for sure she will never see the light of day again.

8/12/2013 - 9:00am - Court Trial

I thought it was odd they would start a trial on a Friday. :waitasec:
So this is going to be the ACTUAL trial, since they don't have to do jury selection, right?

Justice is coming Jonathan! Bye bye Mona.

  • #331
I hope it's publicised. The world needs to know what a monster she is. Jonathan deserves the small semblance of justice that would bring.

I don't know if I posted this facebook page for Jonathan.
It appears to be run by his Mom, her significant other and his Grandma... from what I can see.

This is the original page, that I believe was run by his Aunt... who was a member here.

As far as the legal case goes.... More motions to suppress have been filed.
We are still set for Monday though.

I am here waiting for justice for Jonathan. This crime was so horrific I could hardly stand to read about it. I can't even imagine how this "woman" claimed to be such a good person after she was arrested. I will be interested to see what her defense will be b

You are correct, she is facing a judge only. Maybe the trial date changed to accommodate the judge's schedule...????? idk.... I can't locate any information about the trial...
