This young man's partially skeletonized body was found in a wooded area off the FM1097, and 1/2 mile east of FM149.
He was dead for an estimated one month and all parts were recovered.
He was 5'9 and about 140 pounds. He had brown hair, about 12" in length. No clothing listed.

I thought, oh, long hair! That should make it easier. Then I looked at the date. *facepalm*

I imagine every man and their dog except those in active military had hair that length or longer in '77.

Interesting age range. Usually, don't you get a teen age range or young adult? This goes from fifteen to twenty five. I wonder why.

15 to 25 isn't really an uncommon age range from what I've seen on NamUs. A 15yo in most cases isn't that physically different to a 25yo especially when they're bones/decomposed.

Okay, cool. I haven't come across it too much, and I didn't know if it was unusual. I assumed that growth plates or teeth of a fifteen year old would be noticeably different from a twenty five year old.

Yikes, I lived in that county about 45 miles from there and was in high school at that time but never heard this (not surprising since we didn’t have internet/social media back then).

Interesting, do you have any insights about what the area was like at the time?

Thank you, Caring1!

Huh, I guess John Dial was an automatic, since his last-seen was way after this Doe was found.
I think that's NamUs's mistake, all the other sources say he went missing in 1966. He also apparently turned up alive in 2013.

Wow, I bet he had one hell of a story to tell! Or at least a lot of explaining to do. Glad to hear you're alive, or, at least were in 2013, Mr Dial.

Kind of rural, lots of wooded areas and not much development (before urban sprawl), no cell phones or internet, lots of country western attire, nothing much to do (entertainment was sitting around in cars at the local Dairy Queen or Hot Biscuit). Also, there were lots of murders around that time with many bodies being found in wooded areas. One morning while riding the school bus, I observed a dead body that had been dumped along the side of the road. A boy I went to high school with was murdered a few years after we graduated. A girl that I went to school with had a young adult son who went missing in 2011 and has never been found. There are at least two female bodies that I know were found in the town I lived in. There’s the Texas “missing 40”—40 people missing in two counties (Liberty and Montgomery). Hopefully, that gives you an idea. I moved away during college and had no desire to go back except to visit family. Check out the Montgomery County cold case website sometime.
