KA doesn't strike me as the kind of person that would talk woman-to-woman about staying out of her relationship. It would seem to her like she was begging, desperate. She seems more like the stay-away-or-else kind...the she-who-must-be-obeyed kind.

Texas rarely releases a prisoner convicted of murder on the first time up for parole. The inmates are essentially free labor for the products the private companies who buy their products. At a glance it appears that the factories produce items for the prison population but it is much more than that.While 30 years probably seems like a lifetime to both the Wilson and the Armstrong families, I was admittedly shocked to read just this morning that Yolanda Saldivar, Corpus Christi, (convicted of killing female Tejano genre singer Selena) will be eligible for parole release in 2025.
While being eligible for release does not guarantee release, historically, white women such as KA are most likely to be released after serving 30 years than Saldivar.
Saldívar’s parole hearing is scheduled for 2025, but it is not guaranteed that she will be granted parole. The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles will review her case and consider several factors, such as her behavior in prison, her criminal history, her psychological evaluation, and the impact of her crime on the victim’s family and society.

I think it is important to note that MW and CS also had a professional relationship and in the small world of gravel racing it would be hard to just be done with him. KA may have been more threatened by their friendship and common interests than the physical intimacy they had shared. KA couldn't keep up on bike rides, she was getting older, MW was in her prime and most likely could compete with CS in biking. She had so much that CS valued and admired. But KA wanted it ALL.
We know one thing for certain -- if KA can't admit that she murdered Mo, she'll never be granted release. She's not exactly off to a good start. Just sayin..
Agree. With her shenanigans in Costa Rica and then the dr appt escape (I mean, really Kaitlin. WTF were you thinking?), I find it extremely unlikely she will have an unblemished prison record.

In addition to her jealousy regarding CS, I think MW had two things that were unattainable for KA… cycling prowess and youth.

I loved everything Mo's mother said in her statement to KA, but her comment that KA and Colin could have had a beautiful life together was probably just intended to make KA think about that as she sits in her prison cell every day for the next 30 years or so. She was never going to have a beautiful life with CS. He just wasn't as into her as he was into himself and his cycling. He certainly was not as into her as she was into him. He would have continued doing what he apparently had been doing all along, hooking up with women during self-described "breaks", while KA continued to live in his home and stew, because neither of them were willing to make the move to dissolve the relationship, though I think both of them knew it was only a shell of a relationship. If it had not been Mo, who tragically died at the hands of KA, it eventually would have likely been another woman who KA felt threatened by. She was a ticking time bomb, and Mo just sadly was the one that KA exploded on. JMO

Hate to say this, but she was an extremely pretty girl. Nice bone structure and her hair is beautiful. I’ve always wanted hair like that - thick, red and curly. I am stuck with baby fine blond hair - like two hairs in my own head, but anyway…she could have easily found a new guy and gone on with her life. the other people involved did not commit the murder, but I think if you are involved with some one who has multiple partners, there are a number of risks, and if you involve yourself with multiple partners- same thing. some people find that "exciting" however... I keep thinking how men used to be absolved for "crimes of passion"
And if Mo was not a special combination of youth, beauty, and rising stardom, it may not have happened. Mo was extra vulnerable in this situation.

I believe CS last professional race was on May 7, 2022 --"Red Bull Rio Grande" near Marfa, TX -- only a couple days before MW was shot dead by KA in Austin, and where CS finished 3rd in the 80 mile ride. (I just noticed that KA also participated in the 5/7 event, placing 6th in the 50 mile segment).
Colin Strickland is one of those unique and extraordinary individuals who brought attention to the sport of gravel racing in the U.S. Born in Johnson City and now a current resident of Austin, Strickland grew up with his feet glued to a pair of bike pedals.
“Bikes were a huge part of my life,” Strickland recalls. “I never really owned a car; I grew up in town. I could get where I needed to go with a bike.”

For Strickland, racing was just a hobby.
Strickland’s drastic shift into a professional racing career was a matter of the right races, right connections and unexpected wins. In 2016, Strickland became involved with an event called Red Hook Criterium, which is a series of cycle races consisting of riders on specialized fixed-gear bikes with no breaks. Strickland brought home first place from Brooklyn, Milan, London and Barcelona, the four cities where the Red Hook Criterium races were held yearly.
In 2017, Strickland tried gravel racing. By 2019, he had focused all of his efforts on this new racing niche. He fought his way to first place in Unbound Gravel that same year, a 200-mile endurance course and one of the top gravel races in the world. He describes this switch from road cycling to gravel racing as a mix of noticing where the sports trends were headed and just having the most fun.
“There’s still European road racing, for sure,” Strickland says. “That’s still probably the biggest focus of cycling worldwide. But for the U.S., it’s definitely gravel that has stolen the show.”
Strickland attributes gravel racing’s increase in popularity to its more relaxed nature and more scenic rides — people are riding to simply have fun.

Recently, Strickland pitched to Red Bull the idea of them hosting a gravel race in his home state of Texas. Over 4,000 feet up and 30 miles south of Marfa in western Texas, the Chinati Mountains paint dark and jagged shadows across the dry foothills. It’s in these dry and rocky foothills that the inaugural gravel competition, Red Bull Rio Grande Gravel, will take place.
Experienced and beginner cyclists alike can participate in the race because of the way Strickland helped Red Bull to modify the course through his trial runs and feedback.
