I wonder if when KA flew out of Austin to NYC if she thought she was doing so before an investigation could be done that would name her officially as a murder suspect. In other words, maybe she didn’t expect to ever be named as a fugitive from justice and have warrants out on her.

You may be right, but the state does still seek and gets convictions in capital cases, and they are one of the few states that actually still carry them out. Only 11 death sentences were carried out in 2021 in the USA, and 3 of them were in Texas.

Good knowledge that in Texas, a death sentence still has a good chance of actually being a death sentence. And now the "but"....

"The State" means "county" in the practical sense as State over rides of county prosecutorial authority are very rare.

By Texas standards, Austin is very progressive. As a result, my guess is that Travis county is highly unlikely to seek the death penalty. Now, go, say, 45 minutes out of Austin into more rural and olde school Texas "hill country" counties, and it could be a different story.

She does look very different. And if she were to cut her hair short, dye it darker, wear a Covid mask, and sunglasses, she could definitely move around undetected.

She’d have to have enough cash to not use any of her bank or credit cards, not to mention a phone that can’t be traced to her —which she must, or why haven’t those items all been used to trace her?

I still don’t understand how the US Marshals managed to “lose the footprint” at La Guardia airport in NYC. Was there no footage showing her leaving from a certain gate area? Getting into a cab or Uber? Walking? There are CCTV cameras everywhere these days, especially at airports and in cities….how did they manage to lose her?

Every time I see that biking photo I wonder what is on her forehead at the hairline. Is that dirt or what?

You are right about CCTVs being everywhere in public places. It seems hinky that the US Marshals "lost her" and even hinkier (is that a word?) that they are admitting it publicly.

Pleading with her to turn herself in is odd, also. If I were her, that would make me laugh, not live in fear. "Catch me if you can"!

IMO LE's best bet is to surveil her father/parents. He knows her plans & likely knows exactly where she is.

Or she may not have killed in a sudden "crime of passion". She may have had an escape plan somewhat thought through from the get-go & was just lucky they failed to hold her on the theft of services warrant.

I still wonder why they brought her in without having a warrant based on her car being near the scene of the crime.

That was the most grievous failure. Although she would have bonded out probably. Why weren't they watching her every move very closely?

Motive, means & opportunity were staring LE right in the face. Why did they blink?

Totally agree and posted similar questions on the Laguardia airport CCTV cameras earlier. I hope LE researches this theory: investigate all of her known friends/acquaintances to see if they flew May 14 to Laguardia with a layover to another US city, KA meets friend/acquaintance/accomplice in Lagaurdia bathroom (no cameras), accomplice gives KA the connecting boarding pass to 2nd leg flight and KA is in another US city. It's a longshot but one that I give some possibility to based on the "lost footprint". KA's phones may have coded texts from someone in the days leading up to May 14 that could give LE persons to research flight records by name. AMOO

I hope LE researches this theory: investigate all of her known friends/acquaintances to see if they flew May 14 to Laguardia with a layover to another US city, KA meets friend/acquaintance/accomplice in Lagaurdia bathroom (no cameras), accomplice gives KA the connecting boarding pass to 2nd leg flight and KA is in another US city. That would have to be an awfully good (or stupid) friend to chance a charge of aiding and abetting a fugitive.

I think it's much less complicated than that. If she had thought this through properly, she would have hired a hit and left much sooner.

It's not smarts that have her successfully in hiding (if that's even true). IMO it's just very good luck.

KA arrived May 14, on Southwest Airlines, ASSUMING Terminal B Laguardia, this terminal is brand new, state of the art, 8 billion $ project. My company just finished major interior renovation of DBIA and there is no doubt that the security systems, CCTV and communications systems are the most advanced recent technology available on the market. It makes no sense that LE has not released footage of KA on Level 2 baggage or Level 2 secure gates area, or leaving the secure area to baggage claim (where there is ALWAYS A CAMERA IN CASE SOMEONE TRIES TO ENTER SECURE AREA FROM PASSENGER EXIT AREA without going through TSA checkpoint). Likewise for Level 1 bus/transportation.

The counter possibility of course and it happens sometimes with new advanced security/communications systems is mal-function in recording or user error, this may have happened on this day and LE has not released this info. AMOO

I think she had dirt or dust on her face on that cycling photo. If she’s in that gravel/mountain biking type of activity people get dirty. In some of the MW photos she had dirt encrusted on her face.

I wish LE would release some other photos of KA, there were some from a recent article about CS’s mobile home business that were scrubbed off the internet by the publication, but she had her hair braided and was standing and looked more weatherbeaten than the photos where her hair is long and wavy.

Exactly. Additionally, if there had not been a clerical error with her date of birth on the old warrant, they could have detained her for 24+ hours, and worked to get a confession. She really lucked out, so far…

I would be surprised if a gf would put her neck on the block for KA. But an ex, hoping to get together, certainly could.

One thing to remember is police didn't issue a warrant for KA's arrest until May 17th. She took the flights on May 14th before she was technically a fugitive.

I agree, at the very least, they should have her leaving the airport. In addition to taxis and perhaps ubers (NYC taxis drivers may have the political pull to keep them out of the airport?), city buses to key subway stations are very common.

If I remember right, the bus is free- facilitates people leaving the airport. This could make it an attractive way out for a fugitive with a cash crunch. A common bus ride from La Guardia is the one to the Jackson Heights subway station / hub in Queens.

Once out of La Guardia, did she stay in NYC? Going to any "crunchy" town- ski towns and other trendy outdoorsy towns with a fitness, cycling, alt health vibe would seem too risky in regards to recognition. Most rural areas though, would not have those vibes at all.

If she stayed in NYC, are there any "start over" areas for 35 year olds? Perhaps Times Square's vast restaurant / entertainment zones looking for wait staff- with an eye out for attractive employees of either sex? Maybe the Broadway area as theatre support staff or venue staff?

Likewise, I think some parts of Brooklyn (DUMBO and nearby?) have a lot of transplants who arrived due to a tech boom centered on small start up companies. My neighbor's son went for the boom in Brooklyn- and now says NYC, and not TX, is his forever home.
