Found Deceased TX - Myriam "Mims" Camarillo, 27, Laredo, 7 July 2019 *Arrest*

The Laredo Police Department is asking for information from the community in reference to a reported missing woman. The woman missing is Myriam Camarillo, age 27. She was last seen at an establishment located at 1300 Iturbide on July 07, 2019 at approximately 2 am. She was last seen wearing a black top, black skirt, white checkered shoes and carrying a red purse. Ms. Camarillo has long black hair, brown eyes, and is dark skin toned.

She has a tattoo of a red/black butterfly with skulls inside the wings on her right shoulder. Surveillance footage from the establishment shows Myriam Camarillo with a male who is being sought for identification purposes. If anyone knows who this man is in these pictures or know the whereabouts of Ms. Camarillo you are asked to contact Laredo Police at 795-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS. All calls are anonymous. LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Laredo Police are on the lookout for a woman who has been missing since Sunday.

Authorities say Myriam Camarillo, 27 was last seen on July 7th at around 2 a.m. near the 1300 block of Iturbide.

Surveillance video from the business shows Camarillo leaving the scene with a man who is being sought only for identification purposes.

Camarillo was last seen wearing a black top, black skirt, white checkered shoes with a red purse.

Police say she has a tattoo of a red/black butterfly on her right shoulder.

If you can identify the man or know the whereabouts of Camarillo, you are asked to call police at 795-2800 or Crime Stoppers at 727-TIPS.

"We want to thank you the community for giving us the information about his identity. We did receive several responses," said Investigator Joe E. Baeza, LPD spokesman, on Thursday.

The male has spoken to investigators and is cooperating with them on the disappearance of Myriam Camarillo, 27, according to police.

"There is still nothing concrete or evidence that there is some sort of foul play involved. We're just concerned of Camarillo's well-being and location," Baeza said.

FBI, US Marshals, Border Patrol and other law enforcement entities are currently investigating a residence in the Mines Road area regarding a missing 27 year old. The residence is an active crime scene. Myriam Camarillo went missing several days ago and last seen at The Happy Hour bar in downtown. No other information at this time.

Early Friday morning Camarillo’s mother received a phone call saying someone has her daughter and asked for $4,000 in extortion.

After four days, the search for Myriam has come an unfortunate end. The Laredo Police Department has released the following statement in regards to the missing person Myriam Camarillo:

On July 12, 2019, a deceased person was located on the 100 block of St. Pierre. The discovery was made after the Missing Persons Unit investigators were following up leads into the disappearance of Myriam Camarillo. During a search of the residence, the body of a deceased female was located inside the residence.

The body of the female was positively identified as that of 27-year-old Myriam Camarillo who had previously been reported as missing. Initial information indicated that a male subject, identified as Joseph Steven Carrizales (Age 26), had been in the company of Camarillo at the residence located on St. Pierre prior to her death.

Carrizales was then placed under arrest and charged with Tampering/Fabricating Physical Evidence F/2. Carrizales was then remanded to Webb County Jail where he is being held pending bond to be set.

The body of Camarillo was turned over to the Webb County Medical Examiner for an autopsy. The case remains under investigation pending the results of the autopsy report. Additional details will be released as they become available.

federal agents arrest man who fled scene. Name is Joseph Steven Carrizales 26 years of age. He is incarcerated at Webb county jail with no bond. Charged with tampering with physical evidence with intent to to impair human corpse. According to Carrizales’ Facebook page he resides in Nuevo Laredo.

But he was not charged with murder or manslaughter and they are doing an autopsy to determine cause of death. I'm guessing no obvious trauma. So right now he's only looking at a second-degree felony under Texas law.

I'm following three other cases where the suspect was arrested first for tampering until further evidence was collected, an autopsy completed, etc. after which murder charges were added. I would expect to see the same here. MOO

This was one of those cases, like Kenia Monge, Savannah, the girl up in Massachusetts that was found in the guys trunk after leaving a bar alone. When I came across it, I knew time is so of the essence .. Rest in peace.. heartbreaking..

Laredo, TX, police confirmed they have found Myriam Camarillo's body and that a suspect is under arrest. Joseph Steven Carrizales, 26, reportedly accompanied her to the residence where her body was found and identified. He is charged with tampering and fabricating physical evidence. Her cause of death has not yet been determined.

Camarillo, 27, was last seen on July 7, 2019, around 2 a.m., at a downtown bar in Laredo. Surveillance cameras caught her leaving with a man, whom Laredo police soon identified.
