I have noticed there are many people who seem to have sympathy for Nichol, even if she is found to be responsible. Just curious if those same people had sympathy for Josh Powell.

family dysfunction is often cyclic with subsequent generations repeating the behaviors. Thanks for the link.

I wonder if her parents committed suicide? Children who have parents who committed suicide have an 50% likelihood of also committing suicide, which is why at schools, there is mandatory intervention for children of suicide parents.

The reason for this, is two hypotheses:
1. Lack of ability to respond to adverse events effectively. Impulse control. Lack of coping skills.
2. Children percieve that since parents committed suicide, that is the best solution to perceived problems.

(Mandatory, meaning our school system provided this, when I taught school, everything changes constantly).
Children who lose a parent to suicide more likely to die the same way, study finds

This link explains somewhat, but doesn't go into adult children of suicide parents. Will find additional resources.

It seems like any which way it was someone who took all 3 down without any major issues. Or she did and then herself, no hesitation and very succesful. I am no expert, have stated as much. But the fact I am not, makes me think what are the odds I could do that and have such success? After one person shot, who knows, we were not in the situation, but I would think the other two or one would be cowering or running, etc. By the third for sure.

Strikes me more like someone familiar with a gun but no expert.

I think or hope I am allowed to discuss it though.
Sounds like someone familiar with a gun, agree. But who?

I don't consider any parent who murders their child and then themselves to be a "victim." I think it is a leap to believe NO isn't responsible.

Can we do something, please? Let's swing back to start. What DO we know for sure? 1) ME found NO to be a suicide......2) someone.....

You raise a good point. I'm not sure that such information is even tracked but perhaps it should be.

Sorry if I missed it, but who says she was not familiar with guns?

We do not know the details of the shootings. IE things like toxicology (girls could have been drugged) and range of shots (could have been close range.)

New tests: Even inexperienced shooters can be fast, accurate when shooting cops
“We’ve now established that even unskilled offenders, to the shock of everyone involved in these tests, are capable of much faster and more accurate shooting at close range than previously believed.

They could have been on bed asleep and moved after.

That’s not what’s listed here in San Antonio on Spectrum/TWC cable. It says, “Coming Clean” @9:30.

Probability should be around 0.0048% IMO.
From my rusty probability maths, if it hasn't fallen off my head after natural passage of time...

(Prob of one parent dead in the same month when he's born) x (prob of the other parent dead in the same month when she's born)
= 1/12 x 1/12
= 0.69%

Don't know if this means anything. We all will die in a certain month. Dying is 100% probability for mortals.

So, we have 3 facts, so far....ME stated NO suicide, 2) Both daughters homicide, 3) Firearm found near mother. WHAT ELSE? We have had some much opinion and conjecture. I am just trying to isolate the facts that we DO have.

I calculated like this:

Probability of one parent dead the same month (s)he is born: 0.69%

Probability of both parents dead the same month they are born, 0.69 x 0.69: 0.0048%

But, you are absolutely right. 100% probability of dying for mortals. :p

Something is clearly wrong (or they need help) with anyone who would do such a thing. The case is a bit different, her parents won custody. His wife/or the mother was gone and may not be getting custody but her parents were, so it was likely a you can't have them... Most suicides that involve taking children, not to argue with anyone else on here, but that is the reason, the other parent, etc. is not going to have them either... That is the most common scenario where children are involved... Good point. And jmo.

So LE is "leaping" also to look further and bring in the feds? Sorry, I just do not get where you get your solid conclusions from. I do not have any. And they apparently do not either. Which is the way it should be. imvho. Unless you have something we do not know? With all due respect. So the fed and LE are idiots and leaping??
