I believe one of them is a pair of scissors. (Since she was a hairstylist!)
I think you're right. The one on her left forearm appears to be a pair of scissors.

Wow guys the below article originally posted by inmyhumbleopinion has been heavily edited/updated. Please click on his post's article link to see the difference between what he quoted and what is now in the article. I am surprised there is not an annotation that the article has been updated and with the appropriate timestamp..the nature of the original article has changed. Not only that but I tweeted the reporter about POI concerns after seeing the original article and the article has since been updated to address them!!
“Sheriff: Boyfriend of woman in San Antonio triple shooting is ‘person of interest,’ not a suspect”

“The boyfriend of a woman found shot to death with her two daughters in a gated community of luxury homes near Leon Springs is a ‘person of interest,’ but not a suspect in the case, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Thursday.

Charlie Wheeler, 31, has cooperated fully with the investigation and submitted to tests seeking any traces of gunshot residue on his hands, the sheriff said.

‘He’s been cooperative with us knowing full well that under the circumstances he’s a person of interest,’ Salazar said. ‘We’re not calling anybody a suspect at this point.’

One of Wheeler’s attorneys expressed frustration with the sheriff’s comments and said there is no probable cause indicating Wheeler committed any crime.

‘We think it is regrettable that this young man is being demonized, that he’s now being publicly identified,’ said San Antonio attorney Mark Stevens, one of three lawyers representing Wheeler. ‘He is a young man with no criminal record for violence whatsoever.

Attorneys Therese Huntzinger and Patrick Hancock are also part of Wheeler’s legal team.

Wheeler told officers he found the victims’ bodies when he returned home around 9 a.m. that morning after staying at a relative’s home in another city the night before. Wheeler had departed the residence the previous evening due to conflict in the home, the sheriff said. Investigators are still working to verify his whereabouts during that time period.

‘People have told us that this wasn’t the happiest of relationships,’ Salazar said of Wheeler and Olsen. ‘We take that information into account ... but we can’t just rely on that as a determining factor in motive or anything like that.’”

Here is the updated article:

Sheriff says boyfriend of woman in San Antonio triple shooting is ‘person of interest,’ but not a suspect

Nichol Leila Olsen quarreled with her boyfriend the night before she and her two daughters were found shot to death in a luxury home in a gated neighborhood near Leon Springs, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Thursday.

“I think there’d been an argument at the very least ... and he went to another residence,” Salazar said.

That boyfriend, Charlie Wheeler, 31, is a “person of interest,” but not a suspect in the case, Salazar said in an interview with the San Antonio Express-News.

“A person of interest is just somebody that we’re interested in talking to,” Salazar said.

Wheeler is not the only person drawing such scrutiny. The sheriff’s office is looking at others as well, Salazar confirmed.

Wheeler has cooperated fully with the investigation since the day of the shootings and willingly submitted to tests scanning his hands for any traces of gunshot residue, the sheriff said. Those test results are still pending.

“We’re not calling anybody a suspect at this point,” Salazar said. I'm not calling anybody a suspect at this point,” Salazar said.

One of Wheeler’s attorneys expressed frustration with the sheriff’s comments Thursday and said there is no probable cause to indicate Wheeler committed any crime.

“We think it is regrettable that this young man is being demonized, that he’s now being publicly identified,” said San Antonio attorney Mark Stevens, one of three lawyers representing Wheeler. “He is a young man with no criminal record for violence whatsoever.

“What we would ask is that people not jump to conclusions, that they not demonize this young man who does not deserve it, that they let the professionals do their jobs and complete this investigation. And respect the privacy of presumptively innocent people and of Charlie Wheeler, who did not commit a crime here.”

Attorneys Therese Huntzinger and Patrick Hancock also are part of Wheeler’s legal team.

Wheeler has not responded to requests for comment.

Olsen, 37, and her daughters, Clark High School cheerleader Alexa Denise Montez, 16, and London Sophia Bribiescas, 10, were found dead at Wheeler’s home in the 11300 block of Anaqua Springs on the morning of Jan. 10. Olsen and her daughters lived with Wheeler at the residence, located inside a gated community in far northwest Bexar County.

On ExpressNews.com: Three found dead in Northwest Side home

Olsen, a local hairstylist, died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death was ruled a suicide by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office. But Olsen’s friends and family have flatly rejected that ruling, insisting she would never harm herself or her children.

The children’s deaths were ruled homicides. Montez died from a gunshot wound to the head, while Bribiescas died from a gunshot wound to her head and neck, the medical examiner’s office said Thursday.

The three were found close together on the floor of a “common area” on the second story of the house, Salazar said. He declined to be more specific about the area where they were discovered.

A handgun was found in close proximity to Olsen’s body, he said. No suicide note was found.

Olsen’s hands also were tested for any traces of gunshot residue, Salazar said. Investigators haven’t yet received those test results.

There were no signs that anyone had forced their way inside the residence, the sheriff said.

Investigators haven’t determined the exact time of the shootings, but believe they occurred between 10 p.m. on Jan. 9 and 9 a.m. on Jan. 10.

On ExpressNews.com: Medical Examiner rules mother’s death a suicide

Salazar said he currently has no reason to doubt the medical examiner’s rulings, but noted the shootings aren’t “the most clear-cut case in the world.” He said there are too many “unanswered questions.”

His investigators are pressing forward to independently verify whether Olsen’s death was a suicide and to find out who killed the children.

“I’m pushing my investigators hard because I’m just as interested as everybody else to find out what’s the truth here? What really happened?” Salazar said.

He asked anyone with information about the case or the people involved to contact the sheriff’s office by calling 210-335-6070 or sending an email to [email protected].

"Olsen’s hands also were tested for any traces of gunshot residue, Salazar said. Investigators haven’t yet received those test results"

So how did the ME determine if the shot to her head was self inflicted?

Unwritten Goodbyes: When There is No Suicide Note

Less than 15% to 38% of people who commit suicide leave a note. That doesn't surprise me. Most people who commit suicide are usually impulsive.

I would never consider suicide myself, having worked with so many people who had attempted suicide and messed up, and ended up with brain damage, blind, deaf, paralyzed, whatever. For the most part, the suicide was an impulsive reaction to a situation that seemed to have no resolution.

This is my active imagination of what happened that night. Just to be clear, this is all opinion and no facts accept they were found in the same room together and there was conflict that night. Sorry it’s a little dramatic but emotionally charged events usually are.

So CW leaves and NO has a meltdown. She isn’t thinking straight. Possibly this fight has occurred multiple times and she cannot handle it. She grabs the home protection gun to shoot herself and her daughters come running to her side. They are screaming mom don’t do this and crying. She looks at their sad faces and thinks about the pain her daughters are in and how painful it would be if she left them (mentally she is not thinking straight). She shoots the oldest one first and the younger one rushes to her sister’s side. Paralyzed by the disbelief that her mom just shot her sister. Younger daughter looks up and realizes she is next, tries to run, gets shot in the throat, and then the head. NO then turns the gun on herself.

I think if he had killed the daughters, they would not be in the same room because they would have hid from him from the start. JMO.

I am curious what gun was used because of the accuracy of the shots. As a woman whose husband leaves town a lot, I have a 9mm with a laser pointer and special bullets for kill shots (separate from practice bullets). Thankfully I’ve not had to use them.
I think your scenario of what may have happened seems very accurate. I'm picturing the same type of scenario.

Okay Sheriff what about the other "persons of interest" you referred to in the press conference the other day? Why is he not being asked about them? And why are the reporters not asking for his definition of POI as there is clearly confusion around this point?
I agree and I don't blame CW attorney's for being upset about this. IMO the Sheriff hasn't handled this well at all.

Does anyone know what NOs tattoo says? (The one above her chest, that ends on her shoulder). Or what the one on her forearm is? Is it a rope or lasso or.. ?

Well, this isn’t really particularly believable. The police were called at about 9am, and they honestly cannot narrow down time of death more than this 11 hour window?

BBM Well said! IMO she wasn't even thinking about the daughters try-out or watching her nephew that weekend. Also, I don't think making the hair appointments was unusual either. It could have been earlier in the day. Even if it was later, and two clients called to schedule appointments, she's going to go through the motions and make the appointments. IMO

Aren't there any other alternatives to mom's murder - suicide and BF as instigator/aggressor?

Vigil for Nichol and daughters 10 and 16 was held tonight. So very sad.
’m wondering abou

According to Sheriff Salazar, CW said he left to spend the night with a relative in a different city. The only place anyone from around here would consider a different city would be Austin (maybe someone would refer to Fredricksburg as a city, but doubtful. San Marcos, New Braunfels, possibly.)

If he left his house at 10PM that would put him in Austin at around 11:15PM, Fredricksburg about 11PM. If he called the relative to say he was coming and he arrived and went straight to bed without conversation, he's asleep by midnight.

Now, to get back to his house by 9AM during RUSH HOUR on a Thursday morning, he would need to leave Austin at 7AM sharp at the latest, Fredricksburg at 7:40AM. That means waking up early after driving late at night, no conversation with the relative, no breakfast, no stopping for breakfast. Essentially, he would have had to wake up extra early and sit in rush hour traffic for possibly 2+ hours and drive straight back home after feeling the need to get away at 10PM the night before.

Do you have a link to support this re: "he left to spend the night with a relative in a different city"?

Sheriff says boyfriend of woman in San Antonio triple shooting is 'person of interest,' but not a suspect

Wheeler told officers he found the victims’ bodies when he returned home around 9 a.m. that morning after staying at a relative’s home in another city the night before, the sheriff said. Wheeler reported he had left the night before after getting into a conflict with Olsen. Investigators are still working to verify Wheeler’s whereabouts during the time period in question.
