Witness: Woman stabbed relative, rolled him 'like a tamale' (San Antonio Express-News)

SAN ANTONIO — Luis Ponce testified Tuesday that his former housemate came into the kitchen as he was painting in December 2012, carrying a shovel in her left hand and something he couldn't see in her right.

“She kept walking toward me,” he said, referencing a statement he had given to police. “She said, 'I'm going to kill you, (expletive).'”

A woman convicted Friday of stabbing a relative was sentenced Monday to 35 years in prison.

A judge sentenced Nicole Smertneck, 30, after hearing from the 77-year-old victim's family...

Smertneck, a relative of Ponce, had been living temporarily with the victim and his family. She claimed he had made sexual advances toward her.
