The search intensifies for an elderly man who suffers from dementia. Pete Carreon, 81, has been missing for nearly four days. He left his home on the far south side of the county in the early morning hours of January 21st.

On Wednesday, Bexar County Sheriff Deputies searched the property in the back of his home.

There were some reports that people saw him Tuesday night on Military and Pleasanton. His wife, Esperanza, misses her husband so much.

"I am asking everybody that if they please see him to hold him there," she said. "Don't let him go, and call the police."

The family is very worried because Pete has medical issues like dementia. He has been without his meds for several days.

"Sometimes he can remember, and a second he cannot remember," she said.

On Wednesday, more than 50 deputies with Bexar County searched the wooded area behind the Carreon home.

The family received word about a lot of possible sightings, and continue to urge the public to be on the lookout. Pete has an eagle tattoo on his right arm, and was last seen wearing his favorite cap that says Korea Veteran.

Another important note, his case does not qualify for 'Silver Alert' because he didn't leave in a vehicle. Deputies urge you to call dispatch if you do spot him. That number is 210-335-6000.

[h=1]Family members of missing elderly man grateful for help, hold onto hope[/h]
Carreon needs daily medication for Alzheimer's treatment and a pacemaker he wears. He left home without them.

While Santacruz continues to worry about him, she said there has been some encouraging news.
Santacruz said a VIA bus driver told her family that he remembers picking up Carreon somewhere in the area of Pleasanton Road and Roosevelt Street.
A South Side store employee also reported giving Carreon food and cash one day.
Santacruz said she notified sheriff's investigators about the sightings, and they are attempting to obtain surveillance video from both sites.

A flyer the family put up in the neighborhood also appeared to jog the memory of a postal letter carrier.

"She jumped up and said, 'I've seen him! I'm positive!' But that was a day later," Santacruz said.
Instead of getting frustrated with the close calls, Santacruz said she will hold onto hope that her father eventually will make it back home.

Article from Feb 3, 2018:
SAN ANTONIO - Family members of 81-year-old Pete Carreon continue to search for him after he wandered away from his home in Far South Bexar County Jan. 20.

Volunteers met at Mission Library Saturday morning to look for Carreon, who has Alzheimer's and other health conditions.
People have sent Carreon's daughter, Nancy Santacruz, photos of who they thought to be Carreon, but so far, none of the leads have panned out.
Santacruz said she suspects her father may have walked off the property through a back road and then caught a ride with someone who unwittingly picked him up.

Are there any pictures of Pete's Eagle Tattoo?

This a long shot, but could he have made his way to Michigan? An unidentified man with an eagle tattoo on right shoulder (and another tattoo on other shoulder that has "Texas" in it) was found deceased in Michigan (pics of the tattoos included): https://www.websleuths.com/forums/s...0-70-Tattoos-Eagle-Skull-w-Cowboy-hat-Mar2018

The medical examiner's office is working to identify a body found behind an abandoned church on Thursday night.
The location is less than a mile from the home of 81-year-old Pete Carreon. The Korean war veteran suffers from Alzheimer's and dementia. He left his home on North Addison Street in the middle of a January night and never came back.
The body discovered was badly decomposed but Carreon's family hopes the 81-year-old's pace maker will help medical examiner's quickly identify whether or not it's him.
