Yeah, the military doesn’t play. This killer is potentially looking at capital punishment too, although it’s not carried out.

That might be changing. I don't know if military executions are a different system than Federal executions, but the Trump administration plans to end the very long moratorium on Federal executions.

They have slated four executions (all have murdered children) for early July and have implied there will be more to follow.....

I do too. And spring to summer so everything's probably growing or has grown up like crazy.

I value life, but cannot categorically disagree with this stance. Certain crimes are very much deserving of the death penalty. MOO.

I am so heartbroken. The family has posted on IG that they don't think it's her. I know they are staying positive, but I'm afraid it's not looking good. RIP baby girl. :(

Hi, anyway her stuff could have been planted in the vault/at the base. Or is it confirmed she was there that day? I will never get accustomed to people thinking its okay to takes someone's life then go about their lives. MOO

We can't let this slip away from public attention!!! There's history with Fort Hood going back to my childhood. I am not a spring chicken lol. I am going to do my best to keep my eyes open. When growing up you always hear those stories about a place. It really hits home when you're grown and stories are still in making. :(

UPDATE: It was a man working in the area that smelled a foul odor and called Bell County Sheriff's Office around 11:30 a.m. this morning, according to law enforcement on the scene. Here's what we know right now. #VanessaGuillen #FindVanessaGuillen #KHOU11

So does this mean she was alive this whole time, until just recently? This is all just so terrifying. My only thoughts on the team being positive in this find was maybe her tattoos or something? :(

Oh God no. Her remains were scattered by animals, and she was in a shallow grave. It looks to me like she was dead the entire time, as I think she was murdered shortly after she was taken (as is incredibly common).

BBM:

This is Texas, not Colorado, though.

I think the DP is in play.

Clearly, there was premeditation, so these will be 1st degree murder charges.

I look forward news of an arrest in the very near future.

I'm very saddened by the news of the possible discovery of VG's remains. But also heartened that perhaps Vanessa may soon get justice. If reports are correct and she was in a shallow grave, then those who put her there need to be held accountable and punished accordingly.

I don't know how long it takes for a body to decompose. But if it were two months, would the smell still be that strong? I guess I was only assuming if it were just bones, there wouldn't really much of a strong odor.

The body was buried in a “shallow grave,” which would have delayed composition. It sounds like animals unearthed her, which would have allowed for the smell to be noticeable.

I don't like the word parietal at all. The sadness it brings

Texas EquuSearch founder Tim Miller told ABC13 the search and rescue non-profit has stopped its search until an autopsy is performed.

Miller said the remains were found in a shallow grave three feet from where the group found evidence last time.

The founder said the Army CID cadaver dogs missed the remains the first time they searched
the area.

Yup. Cadaver dogs are not infallible, although many people think otherwise. They’re a great tool, but there’s countless examples just like this.

It's not the tip I was hoping for. I was hoping someone on the base had opened up. Hoping there is DNA still there.
