Local here. It’s been a rough couple of years for SMPD. Officer Kenneth Copeland was San Marcos’s first Officer killed in line of duty- serving a search warrant for domestic violence in 2017. Officer Putnam is the second, responding to a domestic violence call. Still have two officers recovering from separate incidents of being hit by cars on i35, and the other two officers critically injured from the call that took Officer Putnam’s life.

Good news though, Officer Mueller was released from the hospital this past Wednesday: San Marcos Police Department

Officer Franco Stewart is still in the hospital but making good progress. Many of our neighboring cities LE have been helping SMPD by covering shifts and lending support, which is a beautiful thing.

It is a thankless job when you have so many perpetrators who don't care about another human life.
