TX - Rachel New charged in deaths of three newborns, Rendon, 23 Aug 2009

Duh! Thank you Tizzle for reminding me to read. the. letters. - LOL. What a blonde!

I can't find anything for maps or photos, and I'm not good enough to be able to post a map. Hopefully some day when I grow up I will be able to do that. If you google earth the location it is a pretty clear view, and IIRC the trailer that backs right up to the pond is the one in question. That is alot of water for Texas in my opinion. To find two places with large bodies of water in the back yard in TX is an anomaly, IMO - unless it is your pool.

Mom linked to babies' remains gets out of jail on bond

Rachel Lynnette New, the woman identified through DNA as the mother of three babies whose decomposed remains were found at her home near Rendon, was released from jail Friday on bonds totaling $70,000, a sheriff's office spokesman said.

The bones had been doused in chlorine bleach.

The bodies — two boys and a girl — were so "badly decomposed and compromised," Anderson said, that forensic investigators cannot tell whether the babies were born alive and killed, or were stillborn. They have also been unable to determine who the father was.

Paul New has not been ruled out as a suspect, the sheriff said.

"We’re certain that some wrongdoing occurred here," Anderson said Thursday. "If someone passes away, you cannot put them in a Tupperware container and pour bleach on them and hide them away."

DNA links mother to babies' remains, sheriff says

Twenty-three people linked to the News or to the property owners were asked to give DNA samples for testing, Anderson said. Rachel New’s sample showed that she was the mother of all three infants, Anderson said.

The bodies — two boys and a girl — were so "badly decomposed and compromised," Anderson said, that forensic investigators cannot tell whether the babies were born alive and killed, or were stillborn. They have also been unable to determine who the father was.

Further charges are possible as investigators examine the evidence and interview Rachel New’s associates, Anderson said.

Investigators think bleach could have been used to speed the decomposition process or to mask the smell of the decomposing bodies, or both. The sheriff would not discuss other items found in the containers along with the infant remains.

The investigation into the remains of three infants found hidden in Tarrant County has not hit a dead end, but detectives need a break.

This week, prosecutors sent the case back to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office investigators for more work before accepting charges against Rachel New, the woman identified through DNA as the mother of all three babies.

But, Sheriff Dee Anderson said the investigation is advancing. He said, however, there is much more work needed since the case is complicated

NEW INFO: Witness comes forward in Tarrant County infant remains case

Authorities said that as a result of a recent News 8 report, a witness came forward with information on the suspect, Rachel New. Investigators believe New is keeping a disturbing secret about what happened to the three dead babies.

As a result, authorities said a witness finally came forward with solid information that New was pregnant within the last two years. That might be a critical break since some of the charges New could face have a two year statute of limitations.

Both the sheriff and prosecutors caution there are still a lot of questions to answer, including whether the babies were ever alive outside the womb.

While they said they are very pleased to have an important witness cooperating, they said they could use more.

If the DA takes the case to a grand jury, they do have the authority to compel potential witnesses to appear.

Cops Need Help on Baby Remains Case

In August 36-year-old Rachel Lynette New's former landlord was cleaning the property located near Rendon, Texas. He found a box and plastic storage bin containing two skeletons beneath the porch.

At the time, New and her brother, who also lived in the home, denied knowing anything about the remains.

But according to the sheriff’s office, DNA evidence links New to the full-term newborn remains.

She has also been linked by DNA to the skeleton of another newborn found in a suitcase in the same area in 2008.

A woman who was aquainted with New has since told investigators that the suspect told her she was pregnant around the time that the remains were found.

Still, the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Department says it needs more witnesses and details about what happened to the three babies.

Investigators have not been able to determine if the babies were born dead or alive. Investigators also do not know who the fathers are.
