On Monday, 02/23/1953, 17 year old Raul (Pete) Arevalo, while working as a gas station attendant at Lyles Buick Company in Sonora, left with two men who stated they ran out of gas east of Sonora in the Company's truck. After he did not return to the station in a timely manner, authorities were notified. The Company vehicle was located 7.7 miles west of Sonora. On Tuesday, Arevelo's wallet was found 12 miles west of Sonora and later other documents belonging to him were found 20 miles west of Sonora. On Sunday, 03/01/1953 Arevelo's body was found 1.4 miles east of Sonora by persons on a Sunday Drive. Arevalo's death was ruled a murder and Officials dubbed it one of the most vicious murders in the area at the time. The murder of Arevalo remains unsolved and the Texas Rangers are asking for your help with providing any information regarding this case.

"Raul’s death was ruled a murder. An autopsy reportedly showed that he’d been “severely beaten around the groin area and other parts of his body.” His jaw had been broken, as well as his skull in several places. He’d also been shot through the back of his head with a .45.
Raul had been dead about three days when he was found, according to reports citing doctors. That meant that his killers who had taken him more than a week before had held him somewhere for a time before he was ultimately killed."
