GUILTY TX - Rayven Shields, 3, Bryan, Jul 2018 *Arrests*

Hopefully this link is ok since it’s from a news station. A local news reporter was on the scene when the “mom” called a neighbor from jail and wanted to speak with them.

A couple things stand out, first the mom stating “Why would I kill her, that was my only child” when asked if she had killed Rayven and then states “anyone that knows me would tell you that I never abused none of my children” when asked if she had abused Rayven.

So it sounds like from her first statement that she doesn’t even consider the children that had already been taken from her, as her children anymore and most likely didn’t try to even regain custody of them after saying she was innocent in the case of her other child dying.

I wonder if there is any correlation with the 2-4 age and the seeming uptick of toddler deaths due to it being an age where children really start communicating and could verbalize if they were being abused, etc for the first time.

I can’t tell if that makes sense or not, but just a thought that came to my mind since it seems this mom has had two children be killed at around the same age. All IMOO.

Also age 2-4 can bring some difficult behavior out in a child, potty training, gaining independence and their own opinion ect. For a parent with poor parenting skills or drug abuse they may start being more abusive leading to the child's death during that age.

Thanks for the video TXBorn! The reporter missed a golden opportunity to ask a simple question: "What happened?" I'd love to hear mom's answer to that.

Interesting though that mom wanted to speak to the reporter. I don't know why, she didn't really say much. Who would expect her to admit she abused, beat and killed Rayven?

One thing for sure is Virginia's a lying liar. Here's what she told LE:
On July 30, Adams refused to tell the Department of Family and Protective Services where Rayven is or if she's safe. The next day, the report said detectives searching the home on Conner Street find nothing. They track down Adams to a home nearby.

Investigators said Adams went from knowing where Rayven was, to not knowing, to trying to vouch for her safety. She told police a woman had Rayven at a home in Brenham. When police went to look, She changed her story again. Adams said the woman actually lived in Bryan, but gave Rayven to a woman named Keisha.

Police searched the home and didn't find Rayven. The woman living there said Adams made up the name Keisha
Virginia Adams changed stories multiple times as police searched for her child
LE went back to the Conner Street house where a cadaver dog led to the remains buried in the garden which are likely Rayven.

I was not expecting that outcome when I opened this thread.

When I read they were searching the house it sounded different from most missing child cases, so I did fear this outcome but I was really hoping I would be wrong.

This beautiful young girl with a smile that lit up her eyes. The photo breaks my heart.

I wish that Rayven could somehow know how others would have loved to have cared for her and treated her like the gem she is. Perhaps she does know, somehow.

Rest in peace, beautiful Angel. You should be alive and happy and loved - loved so very much. I am so deeply sad that you are not.

I am lost for words, your words say it for me, thank you Zen. Such a beautiful wonderful smile. I wanted her to be found alive and taken some place safe where she could be loved and happy :-(

Defense attorneys argued that Lewis simply was trying to cover for Virginia Adams - Tyrone's mother and then Lewis' wife - because she was to blame for hurting the child. Adams, they argued, lied when she testified earlier in the trial that she didn't hurt her son.

Sorry, I stink at multi quotes and this is the best I could do to show the woman's name is indeed Virginia Adams.

OMG! I can't access the Eagle from here. How old was the child in that case?

Yeah, they weren't going to take Rayven from her, that is a true statement. They couldn't, because Rayven was already dead in the garden!

I'm sorry but I don't believe she was unlucky enough to have two boyfriends abusing her babies to death behind her back.

I agree with MsMarple they weren't very good questions from the reporter. About the only thing I can pick out is the "why would I?"

How about answering why would you lie about your child's whereabouts? How about telling us why you didn't notice the garden had been dug up at the same time your child disappeared?

Heartbreaking at the very least. This is so awful. Unbelievably horrid.

Texas woman whose child is missing had son who was killed
David Barron, formerly district attorney of Grimes, Leon and Madison counties, was the defense attorney in 2005 for Adams' ex-husband, Timothy Lewis, when Lewis was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to life in prison for the death of Adams' son, 4-year-old Tyrone Fenner.

"It was our defensive theory that she was responsible for the death of Tyrone and he took the fall for her," Barron said Monday.

New details surrounding missing 3-year-old
Police say they aren't going to rest until someone is held responsible.

"We're going to do everything in our power to investigate this fully so that we can find the answers that we need and hopefully bring whoever did this to justice," said Sgt. Bona.

Did this mother report Rayven missing or did CPS do it? Where did she say the child was when they came to check on her? Or was the mom not there either?

According to the Bryan Police press conference on July 30 CPS asked Bryan PD to assist them in locating Rayven. CPS was trying to check on her but had no success and Rayven's mother was not cooperating. At that time CPS didn't have custody but on Tuesday July 31 they obtained a court order to remove Rayven from her mother and take custody of her.

What we don't yet know is what started the CPS investigation in the first place. But no, her mother never reported her as missing. She told CPS and LE numerous stories about where Rayven was, all lies.
