Unfortunately the body that was found in El Paso belonged to Riley. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for our family at this time of crisis.

I'm heartbroken, what a devastating loss. Please know that there are many, many of us in El Paso holding your family close to our hearts.

Riley has been found. Unfortunately he's no longer with us. Have not released any detailed information yet but they found him in the desert. Probably once the autopsy is complete they'll give more information. 😕😢

Fort Bliss officials confirmed Saturday that the body found in the El Paso County desert Friday was that of a missing soldier.
Spc. Riley Gast, 22, was last seen alive Monday in the laundry room in Building 20645 on the Army post.
Sheriff's investigators on Friday were working the case as an unattended death, sheriff's spokeswoman Chris Acosta said.

My deepest condolences to Riley's family and friends. They day he went missing, it was announced that a large number of Fort Bliss soldiers would be sent to the Middle East - was Riley one of them?

It seems a lot of soldiers turn up dead or go AWOL from that base :/

He knew he was going for a long while and extended his contract so he could deploy before reenlisting. He loved being a soldier.
