Unsolved mysteries leave Milam sheriff, deputies perplexed

"Jane Doe" was characterized by investigators as an impoverished field laborer from Mexico or South America. Her shoulder-length dark brown hair had been lightened to a red-blonde shade. Her ears had been pierced twice, but no earrings were found. She wore a "cheap yellow metal ring" as if it were a wedding band.

A pathologist at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science determined that she died as the result of a blunt trauma -- a single blow to the head with a hard instrument, probably a ball peen hammer. The autopsy report described a female in her 20s, 5-feet, 2 1/2-inches tall, weighing 90-100 pounds. Her teeth were badly in need of dental care. So advanced was her decomposed state, investigators were unable to determine whether she fought her killer or any other details about her last horrifying moments of life.

Investigators believe the body had been dumped about a month before it was discovered. On Nov. 4, 1986, a telephone company lineman found the nude and badly decomposed remains lying facedown in a ditch six miles south of Rockdale off U.S. 77.

I saw some similarities between this Jane Doe and the victims of The Redhead Murderer. Similar to victims of The Redhead Murderer, this Jane Doe was:
1. A young female of possible Caucasian descent
2. Had hair with a reddish tint
3. Found nude and beaten
4. Had body dumped nearby a highway
5. Murdered in the 1980s
