GUILTY TX - Ronnie Gammage, 27, Longview, 8 Dec 2012

So he was mugged and his wallet was stolen. Then the muggers had his exact address and knew he was an easy target...

Poor guy.

Is there no description of the muggers?

All someone would have to do is "ask" him or know enough about him to seem like a "friend" and he would willingly go, from personal experience ( unfortunately) People without a disability get bamboozled all of the time- even easier to get over on one with a disability.

This poor man's misfortune is my worst nightmare...

I just live a few miles from Longview and was actually going in today to do some shopping. This WH is on a major road with businesses all around it. It is not far from a major mall in the area. I don't know what I could accomplish by going into the restaurant, but if anyone can think of anything, please let me know.

Longview is a city with just under 100,000 population. It is an oil city about 80 miles from the Louisiana border. jmo

I didn't know the pop. was that much. I knew it's a little smaller than Tyler, but it's kind of spread out. I got lost over there once, because I wasn't that familiar with the way it's laid out, on the outer edges. The main part of town is very easy to navigate, though.

You could certainly ask around, see if they know him, what they think happened to him, see if they've got flyers up. And then come back and tell us if anybody acted suspicious.

Still praying for you Ronnie..I sent his sister a short message because i wanted to know if they had printed flyers and if they had a description of the people who robbed him i didn't ask any deep questions just didn't feel right at the time this is what i said..

Have y'all been passing out flyers with his information or has anyone made one up yet? I would defiantly print some and hang them in Tyler area for you.I read an article that said he was recently robbed by three people, were the police ever given a description of them?It also said his house was robbed so maybe it was the same people who took his wallet and used his id to find his house? I am praying very hard for your family if there is anything i can do to help spread the word please let me know, god bless you..

I am disappointed that Ronnie has not been found. I wonder how hard the LPD is actually looking for him. Since he is an adult, they may not be taking this as seriously as they should, and that is a shame.
Have they towed his truck? Did they look at it at all? There could be some small bit of evidence in or on it.
Prayers for his mom and his siblings, I know they must be out of their minds with worry. And prayers that he will be found soon.

JMO. I don't think anything that has been reported about his mental disability is necessarily inconsistent with the ability of reporting a robbery to LE. If there is no description of the robbers it's possible he was not able to give very much useful information and if necessary he could have had family or friends help him file a report.

I am sorry if my post made it seem like I was insensitive...

Actually it just helped make me feel more confident that he could possibly help himself get away from any perps...

I feel so heartbroken about this young man... And I so hope he comes home safe and sound...

the fact that Ronnie was proactive... And reported to LE that he had been robbed... Indicates to me that he had self motivation...

I don't know where I am going with this.... I guess it just shows me that he was higher functioning... than is being reported?

JMO

From what I see reported, he was on mental disability, so he could have mental health issues, some sort of personality disorder, rather than being developmentally delayed. His mom said he had muscular dystrophy and couldn't run. He was extremely tall, so that along with the MD might have made him a little awkward. He may have walked slowly, possibly swung his upper body side to side a little, seemed a bit "stiff" with his movements.

Since he was living in his own apartment and taking care of himself, I think he is probably fairly high-functioning. I worded with MHMR for a number of years, and we had clients who lived on their own, although they were classified as mentally challenged. Most of them functioned quite well with some weekly supervision by case workers. They cooked their own meals, did their own laundry and housekeeping.

Sorry, just noticed I was speaking of him in the past tense. Don't have time to go back and edit, so just look over my errors. I certainly hope he is alive somewhere and will be found. But it does sound ominous.

Bless your heart, TXLady, for helping these people see their self-worth!

And... thank you for providing insight into Ronnie's possible situation!

O/T.... TXLady... My parents were born and raised in Texas... And most of my relatives live(ed) there.... Our family spent many wonderful times in Texas as I was growing up... And beyond...

In fact one of my very best friends from CA married a southern gentleman... And they live there now... Ft. Worth area... Keller, specifically..

My parents/relatives are in the Austin/Round Rock area!

I consider myself part Texan... LOVE Texas...And am a Cowboys football fan!
