Apparently, the news outlet has corrected the information:

Correction: A previous version of this story said Eric Smith had confirmed a boat found in the lake belonged to Ryan Kennedy. It was not Kennedy’s boat.

FRITCH, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The search continues for Ryan Kennedy, a Canyon man who went missing at Lake Meredith back in December.

Monday is Day 44 in the search for Kennedy, who went missing Dec. 15, 2019. Kennedy had been hunting and camping when he went missing, according to officials. . ." BBM

It is a long article, and it discusses previous missing people at Lake Meredith, and it also discusses how long it took to find some of those people. I hope Ryan can be found soon.

50 days later: Officials experiencing difficulty finding missing man at Lake Meredith

Kennedy was last heard from on December 15 when he called his family and told them he was heading home from deer hunting at the lake.

Since then, the National Park Service has searched over 1,000 acres of water trying to find him and his boat.

They have now exhausted all technology resources resulting to surface searches until he is found.

“The area of the highest probability where he went down would be in the edge of the 1,000 acres that we were able to get high scanning and the edge of the area we were not able to get," said Eric Smith, the superintendent of Lake Meredith. "So we could be really close, but we just don’t know that.”

The only thing getting in the way of searching the area with the highest probability of where Kennedy could be is what’s located under the surface of the water.

Thanks for sharing! Such sad news; I wish the family had closure of some sort.
50 days later: Officials experiencing difficulty finding missing man at Lake Meredith

From article:
the National Park Service has searched over 1,000 acres of water trying to find him and his boat.

The area where his belongings are found are too shallow and the terrain is too covered with brush and small trees to get the side scanning sonar unit in that area. We tried to while they were here but actually got the unit hung a couple of times," said Smith.

In 2014, the area where they predict Kennedy and his boat to be would have been dry and was covered it tall grass and shrubs.

Over time, when the lake rose, all of the trees and shrubs were covered with water but stayed at the bottom of the lake.

With water only 12 feet deep in some places, it’s this terrain that is making searching for Kennedy and using any type of side scanning sonar unit impossible.

Fritch community comes together for the search of the missing hunter from Canyon
85 days is how long Ryan Kennedy has been missing at Lake Meredith.

As the search continues for him, attendance at the lake is increasing due to the spring weather. Now the National Park Service is having to balance dealing with boaters and surface searches.

[...]

While not a huge impact, there is a chance that an increase of boaters could delay surface searches for the missing hunter.

“It does not impact our search. The only thing is it may delay what time of day we are able to get out because we are handling other things,” said Eric Smith, superintendent at Lake Meredith.

[...]

“Since December, there has been many a people that have gone out and searched for Mr. Kennedy. They have helped the park rangers and other entities that have come in to search so long and hard for this tragedy,” said Wright.

Not only giving up time to conduct searches themselves, the community has even gone as far to extend a hand to the family.

“The community has gone so far as, Mr. Kennedy’s father who lives out of town, he’s come up here extensively during this time and one of the community member gave him his house to stay in so he didn’t have to bunk up in a hotel,” said Wright.

[...]

The National Park Service plans to continue surface searches until Kennedy is found.
