Most Thai, Lao, Khmer and Vietnamese will have strong Chinese geneaology due to the historical movement of traders from southern China down into the SE Asian region.

Namus MP17749
D.L.C: January 15, 2012
Missing From: Harvey, Louisiana
Missing Age: 45 Years
Race/Ethnicity: Asian (likely Vietnamese)
Height: 5' 4" (64 Inches)
Weight: 100 lbs
Hair: Black
Eyes: Brown

Websleuths thread: LA - LA - Le-Thuy "Cathy" Tran, 45, Harvey, Jan 2012

No mention of tattooed eyebrow's/lips though.

Her Namus puts her at 5'4", but other reports say she was 5'1", so she'd match the stats of this Doe pretty spot on.

Vietnamese in general will often show a significant proportion of Chinese, (particularly if they are from the northern regions of Vietnam). In the south they often show with large proportions of SE Asian/Khmer given the history of the Champa kingdom and porous borders in the south until quite recently (within the last few generations).

I say presumed because of her name. I'm by no means an expert in this whatsoever. Please correct me if I'm barking up the wrong tree on that one

Not at all. Her name is definately Vietnamese (Thai and Khmer naming conventions are very different.) So fits with the information that the Jane Doe is likely Asian of Vietnamese descent.

Still the same 4 ruleouts in Namus that were posted upthread a couple of years ago.

What do you think of the potential match? Do you think the discrepancy between the date missing (Oct 3 2008) and date found (Oct 10 2012) is too long for it to be a possibility?

How do you go about submitting a potential match? Sorry for the questions... I'm fairly new to this.

You have options. You can use doenetwork submission form or you can contact the investigation agencies directly. You can also submit through NamUs. Below is the submission form link.

I will get the investigating agencies contact information and post separately if you would like that as well.

Thank you so much! I went ahead and submitted to the Doe Network for review.

Doe Network got back to me super quick, said the match looked feasible! I don't know what the time frame is on confirming or excluding potential matches, but they said they would contact me if a match is made. I'll update when I know :) Thanks for all your help!
