Me too! I would love to know the whole story, but who knows if that will ever happen. It's been asserted that mom has mental illness, not sure what kind, but it seems she was determined to keep her daughter away from Greg for some reason. She succeeded.

I feel really bad from Sabrina because she certainly has and will hear lies from both parents about the other. When both of your parents lie to you, you just get to the point that you don't know what to believe and take nothing as fact or truth. IME, the lies are repeated so often that the parent begins to accept them as truth.

He managed to keep any and all anger he has toward Dara under wraps. He was asked about Dara by reporters and did not try to villanize her or sensationalize her wrong-doing. He stayed neutral, mentioned that he was grateful that Sabrina had been physically cared for and not put into danger, then moved on.

I can't believe that Greg doesn't have a great deal of anger toward Dara for hiding Sabrina for 12 years, but I hope he can stay as neutral about her toward Sabrina as he did in front of the media. He is not unintelligent, and realizes that Dara is the only parent who Sabrina has known and been raised by in a very long time. Of course she will feel loyalty toward her mother. When Sabrina finally feels ready to see Greg, hopefully he will remember this and not speak ill of Dara.

I think he was counseled about doing that early on in Sabrina's missing case. The first flyers/interviews he had were filled with unprovable accusations that were the kind of thing you hear divorcing couples say about each other, and no one believes it or really wants to hear it, even close friends. I think he was advised that 1. no one believes that stuff and 2. it doesn't generate empathy and motivate support to help find your daughter.

Although we can all understand that kind of blind rage, and have watched divorcing couples behave that way ad nauseum, it doesn't help anyone's cause. So yes, I agree, he's muted the tone and now comes across as more empathetic.

BTW: I'm not sure they were ever married, but the tone of the initial media contacts sounded like divorcespeak.

So this article says that Sabrina is now living with her father? Is that true? I thought they were unable to reconcile..

From Feb 2015:

[Attorney] Urrutia said his client has not spoken with her daughter Sabrina since authorities brought them back to the U.S. last year...

Travis County prosecutors confirmed in court Tuesday they are drafting a plea deal for Llorens to consider. Specific details have not yet been pitched but the issue of visitation could make or break any potential deal.

"Why I think any plea agreement that would be acceptable to us would be one that doesn't involve her being restricted to seeing her child," Urrutia says...

Private investigator Phil Klein helped locate Sabrina and is still working with the Allen family...

Sabrina is about to turn 18 and that could factor into any plea deal. Meanwhile Klein says Sabrina continues to adjust being back home.

Llorens is charged with aggravated kidnapping and interference with child custody.
At a pre-trial hearing Wednesday morning, the judge said she plans to put Llorens to trial in August or September at the latest. She's due back in court April 28, but her attorney will appear on her behalf.
In the meantime, attorneys are looking through FBI and CPS records. If convicted, Llorens faces up to 99 years behind in prison.

I can't find anything after that saying that the trial has started, but the Judge presiding over the case was non-fatally shot on November 7th, so maybe that will delay things even further.

Monday an Austin mother pleaded guilty to kidnapping her daughter more than a decade ago. Dara Llorens was charged with aggravated kidnapping and interfering with child custody after she was arrested in Mexico last October...

Dara Llorens will appear before a judge one more time for sentencing in February. Aggravated kidnapping is a first degree felony with a punishment range of 5 to 99 years or life in prison.

Dara Llorens, 46, who plead guilty in December, was sentenced to two years for the charge of interfering with child custody and six years for the aggravated kidnapping charge to be served concurrently. She will also get credit for time she has already served, which is about a year and a half. She could’ve been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

On the witness stand Monday, Greg Allen recalled that he met Dara Llorens through a dating service. She picked him out of a picture book, and after a night out at the movies, their relationship quickly progressed.

She was pretty and charming, a survivor with many interesting stories to tell. He said it was not until after she absconded with their 4-year-old daughter to Mexico, leaving him to search for them at schools and embassies over the next 12 years, that he discovered many of those stories were not true.

On the stand, Allen said he learned Spanish and traveled to Mexico several times a year to look for Sabrina. With the help of his second wife, Mariana, a Spanish teacher, he went to schools to pass out fliers and talk to principals and teachers.

He sent postcards to relatives, put her image on milk cartons and generated enough media attention to get the case on “America’s Most Wanted.” But when he and his daughter were first reunited, she was confrontational and angry.

They have since worked on repairing their relationship through therapy sessions, and she is now taking classes at a community college, though she is still reclusive, he said.

The defense also called a psychologist who performed a psych eval on Llorens on March 17th.

He determined she may have some obsessive traits but she's not mentally ill.

Llorens attorneys Jackie Wood and Julie Pennington say their client is emotional as well.

"I know she's happy that people at least understand that some of Mr. Allen's allegations and accusations were exaggerated. That there was real concern by many people about this child and that she did what she did...out of desperation and I think she'd be happy the world finally knows at least both sides of the story," Wood said.

As we've been reporting, Sabrina is now 18-years old and going by the name "Fair."
