Why was SO with TB if the grandmother was in close proximity?
How long had it been since the father actually saw SO?
If TB was sharing an apartment with a male -- where did DO live?


I don't think TB was that smart. IMO the grandmother isn't telling the truth.

I don't think she lied. May have confused the dates or maybe TB had the TV on in the background and TO thought it was Sam. Her despair is evident in her video. I do not believe she lied or is doing anything to try to hinder the investigation.

Not as many gators in Houston area as one would think. There are quite a few in a couple of well known spots. One particular spot is popular so I would think there are cameras (IMOO). Lots and lots of water and treed land though. I don’t know what she was thinking trying to get to LA, Cleveland has Sam Houston National Forest nearby. Wonder how she was planning on getting from Jasper TX to LA?

The National Wildlife Refuge isn’t that far from Webster, all she had to do was go south towards the gulf.
(cameras at entrance/gate and buildings but not along the roads and lots of water access)
People dump stuff in the bay.
Gators visible from the road.

In a tote in a storage unit? In the heat and humidity? Makes me furious and sad, all mixed up.

I believe it was posted upthread that she would need to come up with $50,000 at this time. If additional charges are added (which I hope will come soon) she may not be bondable at all. (Pleassssse).

Methinks an attorney spoke to DO-- almost as soon as MSM started announcing the event! I think I read here that SO's mother is filing a wrongful death claim against DO. IMO, -- he'd best remain silent whether or not he has civil or criminal exposure.

Balboa did not appear in probable cause court, but a judge set her bail at $500,000, reported KHOU 11's Adam Bennett. If she is released, she must wear an ankle monitor and be under house arrest. She also cannot have contact with children.

"The facts set forth in this warrant are terribly disturbing," argued a prosecutor in court Friday.

The public defender assigned to Balboa's case asked for a lower bond at $20,000, saying she has strong ties to Houston and has lived at the same address for more than three years. But the judge determined she is a flight risk because she was already on bond for another crime and also allegedly left Houston for Jasper with the child's body.

She might be planning to sue the school district. I'm assuming it is a public school, so notice of suit would have to be given quickly. She'd have to include the father in that suit, IMO. (I'm not getting into the viability of those claims).

Interesting. While watching the hearing this morning I believe the judge set her bond $500,000. ?? Anyone else hear this? I don't think she could come up with enough to get out, even if it was allowed.

I was wondering about both these things too. I'd feel more reassured if an official explained if the prior bond is revoked so even though bond was set at $500k on this charge, she is being held on the prior charge. And also address the 10% bail or bond question. $50,000 is a lot for someone to risk even if it's just $5,000 upfront, but then again TB has proven capable of convincing others to take big risks to help her.

As I stated perhaps yesterday or the day before as my personal opinion, I felt Theresa Balboa was going to Louisiana from Jasper, with Samuel Dalton's body.

Today it has now been indicated that indeed it was Balboa's intention to travel to Louisiana.

The swamps in Louisiana are ideal to dispose of a body. I have a close friend who is from Louisiana and when her adult son went missing in Louisiana and for many months; then a few years he still was not found, she was confident his body was tossed in a swamp for the alligators. She was born and raised in Louisiana and lived there all of her life .. . at the time of her son's disappearance. Eventually his remains were found by accident but not in a swamp.

His case was even discussed on WS.

Per her and my knowledge of the swamps in Louisiana, Texas waterways with alligators are nothing compared to the swamps of Louisiana. One can almost be assured of a body being eaten by alligators if disposed in a Louisiana swamp. Not so certain in a Texas waterway.

I think she is in a great deal of emotional pain right now. She probably feels she needs to do something to hold someone accountable. This whole thing is so horrible.

Per The Sun DO had an RSO out on TB because she had strangled him 6 months before. They got documentation picture proof in the article. I'm so confused on why Samuel was in her care.

I don't think she's that smart and would have had to pre-record of have some old video setup to do so. IMO

She didn't have to necessarily pre-record him. He likely has a tablet. My kids record themselves making videos all the time. She'd only have to go into his camera roll and click a video and play it.

We're also talking about somebody conniving enough to say the mother showed up with a policeman to take back Samuel, but not cunning enough to realize that by placing the mom at the scene, her story could easily be debunked.

Why on Earth did she not just drop Samuel off at his grandparents or bring him back to his mom. I just don't get it. She nor her roommate had any obligation to care for Samuel. Absolutely none. Which leads me to two possible explanations, which I don't think I'm allowed to speculate to as of yet.

BBM - Agreed. The implication from reporting on the affidavit is that 4/30 may have been the last time DO saw Samuel as the affidavit puts Samuel in TB's custody from 4/30 onward (even though we of course have heard TO report and seen photo that Samuel was with TO for the weekend 5/1 and 5/2).

It appears that Texas also follows "crime bail crime" laws. I don't think TB is going anywhere before her charges upped for allegedly causing the death of little SO:

• Crime bail crime. If the defendant is arrested on felony charges while he or she is out on bond for an existing felony case, this situation is known as crime bail crime. If the prosecutor chooses to charge the defendant with crime bail crime, that can add another two years to the jail sentence.

• Bail increase or revocation. When a defendant gets re-arrested while out on bond, the court may perceive that individual as a flight risk. In such cases, any subsequent bail amount may be dramatically increased, or the court may elect to revoke bail altogether.

Court records indicate her next court date for the 11/29/20 assault charge is June 7, 2021. I'm sure once the Court (and bondsman) learn TB also left Houston (traveled to Jasper) while under bond, she'll be done.

ETA: NEW UPDATES -- the State filed motion 0n 6/3 for TB's bond revoked. The grand jury indicted TB for Nov assault on DO on 6/4/21.
