Yeah, I think this is a good match.
I agree. I recognize this shape chin from my own family and comparing Roger's young photo and the parents' photos to the UID's photo, his chin is exactly right (and pretty unique).
Has this been submitted?

Not the same man. Very different face

Bumping. I bumped him 11 years ago and we don’t know one iota more about him than we did then. Anyone know if the judge ever wrote his book? He must have been sitting on some info, what is currently public would not make much of a book.

I am sure he is Rogers. Everything matches and he looks exactly like the young sailor, just aged. But every feature of his matches

And being wanted for double murder of your parents after chopping them up (yikes) is a good reason to go into hiding for life.

He sure looks like he could be Rogers. Does anyone know how tall Rogers was? If he was 6’2” or something, no way. The stuff about him being involved in the JFK assassination is ridiculous. But anything on the JFK assassination sells.
I found a better quality photo of Rogers. I will make it large so we can see details better. OK, maybe it is not any better, just bigger.

Weird that so little is published about Rogers, with the nature of his crime and his never being seen again.

I have answered my own question. Charles Rogers was 5’7” and 140lbs., according to this newspaper report at the time of the Ice Box Murders.
OK, I buy that this could be him. At least I see no reason that it could not be him, and I sure looked hard.

I will say that if it were me, I would have stayed as far away from Texas as possible!

People have odd reasons sometimes in picking their residence towns. Who knows. He must have felt safe having his fingerprints removed and his name changed frequently. I guess after he noticed he was legally declared deceased, he ultimately felt safe.

He may have gotten a job in san angelo or found a cheap place to stay. May have had a partner there. He was from TX and it is a big state. Why should he leave it. It is big enough to slip under the radar. Especially back then.

Actually to me it even reinforces the theory he is Rogers.

Bumping for this unfortunate geezer
Whose case is a puzzler
A real mental teaser
Were you a spy, escaped convict, or crook?
And when will the judge complete that damn book?

I think the reason this guy hasn't been identified is because he only gets compared with well-known dangerous wanted fugitives and people who have committed very serious violent crimes.

Since so many more of these cases have been solved in the past 10 or so years due to tech advancements we've seen that people who act in the way that he did (removed fingerprints, multiple IDs, using stolen identities) often end up either being one of these 2 things:

Relatively "minor" criminals, often financial or white-collar ones. Examples of this kind of person include:
  1. James Scott Walton/Michael DeBourcier (thought his pension fraud on the Canadian government was about to be discovered and went on the run)
  2. James Wray Miller/the Bridge Hero (wanted for a bank robbery)
  3. Albert Edwin Roadhs/Bill Lee Hull (bank robber who skipped town before he could be put in prison after sentencing)
  4. Patrick Grayson Spann/Chad Singleton (walked away from work release while serving a 2-year sentence for cocaine possession)
  5. Robert James Pearson/John Lehman (conman who used multiple identities as part of his schemes)

Those who really don't want to be contacted by the people from their old lives, sometimes stemming from paranoia and other severe mental illness. Examples of this kind of person include:
  1. Robert Ivan Nichols/Joseph Newton Chandler III (possible PTSD or other mental issues from WWII and had been distancing himself from his family for years before he eventually cut off all contact)
  2. Kimberly McClean/Lori Erica Ruff (teenage runaway who didn't like her step-dad)
  3. Donald Hadland Jr./Edward C. (abandoned his family and didn't want to pay child support)
  4. Richard Calvin Heyward/John Hodgson (a generally mentally disturbed person who hadn't been seen by family in years)

And the crazy thing is a lot of these people didn't even move that far away from where they had originally lived! I will say that "Peter Turner" took some of the more extreme steps to hide his identity so I lean more towards him being a minor criminal. The best hope for finding his name (outside of genetic genealogy or re-scanning his fingerprints) would be to check old Texas newspapers for stories from the 1930s-1970s about men who robbed local banks and then disappeared to avoid the law and see which ones had similar names to his aliases or were born on the two DOBs he used.

Thought I should add that guys did some pretty extreme things to avoid the draft in WWII and Vietnam (although he'd have to have been at the very bottom of his age range to serve in that conflict). That could also be a possibility for him.
