No, it doesn't. It just makes us look like a bunch of bloodthirsty savages. Just read any the recent news articles about that theater shooting in any foreign media and see what the comments look like. Nobody outside of the US thinks that people killing each other makes a country great. Meanwhile their husbands are perfectly safe, and don't need to carry any gun, because they are living in a safe country free of gun violence.

I don't think that the Second Amendment makes us a bunch of bloodthirsty savages and I could care less if people in other countries don't like it.

That's the last I'll say about this because mods have instructed us to leave gun control out of this discussion.

I haven't discussed this case with my mom at all but I was talking to her on the phone today and she asked me if I knew how to tie a slipknot. I said no. She said every woman she asked had said no.

I asked her why she was asking--because she wanted to see how many of them would know how to hang themselves if they suddenly found themselves in jail? She said exactly.

I brought this up earlier but didn't get too many replies. How many women here would know how to hang themselves in SB's situation?

I am not saying it wasn't a suicide. Just curious on this topic.

I'm not sure if I was one of the people who answered you before but I would know how. And interestingly enough it didn't occur to me that someone might not know how to tie a slipknot. I wouldn't expect many people to know how to commit suicide by hanging though.

If I were to choose to take my own life, I would need to be sure that the method would work. I would not tryto hang myself and possibly fail. I also would not announce my plan. I thought about this in the Jodi Arias case. If she really wanted to take her life, she could have. As far as I know, she probably still can. JMO

I'd think any woman (or man) who has ever crocheted or done similar work would know how to tie a slipknot. I learned when I was maybe eight or nine.

Most people know how to tie a slipknot, they just simply don't have the word for it. It's the knot you figure out as a kid, just tying stuff together. Not that I'm making light of this situation, at all. It's tragic and awful, and I don't believe should have happened. I'm sure you do know how to tie a slipknot, but don't realize that's what you're doing.

See, I'm really ignorant on this. Would you need to know how to tie a slipknot to commit suicide by hanging?
I wouldn't know how to do either one.

That's what my mom said too. I crocheted around that age as well but I've forgotten how to tie a slipknot, assuming I learned how back then.

Thanks--I think my mom's view is that men would be more likely to know how than women would.

AHA! I used to fish a lot with an old boyfriend in the Florida Keys...I rigged my own line, but I guess I just didn't call it a slipknot. Still wouldn't trust it with suicide in mind, and a garbage bag. JMO

No. You can tie a knot on the end with a loop, put it around your neck and pull the end thru the loop then tie that end to the bar.

No, We all think his gf who he was eating with hid it. The gun was not found. Just the bullets. It is against the law to have a gun so he did not want to get caught with it.

But tons of people saw it. I looked for the review on Trip Advisor, but the owners must have seen it as a tourist did write about it. I did not see the review. A friend told us it was on there.

Life is different without gun culture

Gun Culture as you call it saved my husband's life when he was brutally attacked by 2 men. It did not end well for the 2 men.

On television, I saw a picture of the item that was fabricated to hang her. I thought it was clever, the way it was fashioned, and not something I would have thought of.

In your mind, what do you think Ms. bland did that was "hostile"?
I just think she one should've known where camera view might be being an activist and all she should done her best to stay near back of her car. She shouldn't have juiced him maybe seems a lil taunting at times during the video. She should have followed the basic rule which was more silent. However, she is very correct on being well verbal as to she didnt want to speak and she needed say she doesn't consent to any searches. Also she was good about making it clear as to whether she was detained or arrested. She did not to request a lawyer. I would of called mine and had the whole thing recording. For those who don't know there are quick button apps u can download as these situations to arise very quickly and get out of hand even quicker. Know your rights America!!!! She was also good about asking him what he wanted her to do like her asking if he wants her to sit he said no but told officers arriving on seen different. All these things are key in situations like this as well as her visualizing him slamming her head to the ground he never disagrees as well as the witnesses he told to leave, no one know to look for those witnesses had we not heard him order them to leave.

True, even though that one wasn't the Bondman that SB contacted, any Bondsman could do it JMHO, I am just wondering if due to her priors if maybe her family didn't bail her out immediately for a reason.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe they were tired of the ticket parade. And how is LE supposed to know that she is mentally unstable yet her family says she'd NEVER kill herself? But LE is supposed to figure out her mental state more accurately than family.

This thread is about a deceased person named Sandra Bland and an officer named Brian Encina.

Please do NOT derail it with generalized discussion about racism or gun control. Stick to discussion of this case specifically and post accordingly.

:tyou:

:bump: and adding - politics and policies of other countries to the topics which are too broad for this case discussion. Stick to Sandra Bland, officer Brian Encina, the incident leading to Sandra Bland's arrest and her subsequent death in custody.

LE is not expected to know that, but medical intake of the inmate if properly done, will pay attention to inmate statements, and look to see any outward signs, like scarred wrists, arms and new injuries. JMO

Just saw Anonymous' tweets on Bland and came over. I had already been having a very hard time with the story , much less after seeing the video of ' arrest'. The ' trash bag' has weighed on my mind from day one. The mugshot vs. orginal are very compelling.

I do wonder, what does anyone here do when you are driving and you see a police car? If the car is ahead do you slow down and not pass? If you see one ahead do you look at your speed? Are you oblivious to them being around you until they do something that gets your attention? curious I am. At what point do you (the ones that watched the video) think Sandra saw the police car?

I try to get away from them as discreetly as possible. Speed up, slow down, pull over, what ever it takes. If you call any attention to yourself, you are screwed, and they will pull you over for being suspicious.

I'm sure she saw him, as soon as he saw her. Just as she made the turn.
