Sadly, this sounds like it will be a case of unidentified remains. As an adult, she could probably figure out how to get help, as long as she didn't get lost, in the unbearable heat in Texas in June. If she was left behind, was that intentional for some reason? My assumption is the group would stick together, especially her brother.

Along the lines of what I was thinking. I didn’t initially see her age, so I agree with her being capable enough to get help if she was able. Most people who get left behind when traveling in groups like this have either fallen ill or injured themselves physically. The others (even family members) usually chose to continue on and either return later for them or hope that they are well enough to fall in with the next group coming through. Sadly, the outcome is usually the same; they succumb to their injuries and/or the elements. I’m sure it must be a painful decision for the family members who continue on. They must know to some extent that the odds are good.

The fact that she was left behind tells me that they must have been relatively close to the border. The chances of them being intercepted by border agents diminish the further into Texas they make it. It lists Brownsville as last known location but I wonder if that’s just where they had family or where they actually crossed. Knowing that would help narrow down their point of entry and possible location of Sandra. JMOO
