yes which leads me to criminal activity , and his mother referred to it as his work, like he had a NORMAL job.
His mother was also quoted as saying he would never hurt Savanah. His arrest history proved otherwise.

Originally I thought it might be retaliation for the brawl in court. I'm thinking now that Savanah and the baby were collateral damage. The boyfriend was the main target. JMO

Sadly in some families that type of "work" IS normal. JMO :(

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>
I suspect we will be hearing the murders took place elsewhere and the car was dumped there as well.

They are quoting a family member who opened the car door before LE arrived.

So the car was unlocked when the family member arrived, before LE. Interesting.

That's what they said, but who knows? People often mis-speak...

Texas Capital Murder

Murder can be upgraded to capital murder if specific aggravating circumstances exist, including but not limited to the following:

  • The murder victim was an on-duty peace officer or fireman.
  • The murder was intentionally committed during a kidnapping, burglary, aggravated sexual assault, or other specified crime.
  • It was a murder for hire.
  • The murder happened during an escape or attempted escape from prison.
  • The defendant was in prison and murdered another while participating in an organized criminal activity.
  • The defendant was in prison for murder, capital murder, or other specified aggravated felonies when he murdered someone.
  • The defendant murdered more than one person during the same criminal transaction or separate criminal transactions with a common scheme or course of conduct.
  • The murder victim was younger than 15 years old.
  • The defendant murders a judge in retaliation or because of the victim’s status as a judge.

I’m still open to murder suicide, as this guy’s history lines up perfectly with men who do that sort of thing. At the time that the “perplexing” statement was made (according to the article posted by @Joe Friday, the bodies hadn’t been moved yet; we don’t know if a gun was found or not.

In most murder suicide cases I’ve followed, law enforcement has referred to all deceased parties as “victims,” until days later (or longer), it’s ruled to be murder suicide. A standard refrain is something to the effect of “we believe this to be an isolated incident,” prior to that determination being made. Due to the circumstances here, I wouldn’t expect them to even feel it necessary to say that (we know this was almost certainly either targeted or personal.

In a murder suicide scenario in a vehicle, I’d expect the killer to be dead in the driver seat, and the victim to be dead in the passenger seat. The locations of the bodies is still “perplexing” based on their alleged locations, so that doesn’t rule out murder suicide for me.

Of course more details would give us a better clue as to which way the wind is blowing, and I do think we’ll learn more soon.

Since there is more than one murder here, then makes sense that this would be capital murder, and likely there are other aggravating circumstances.

Mom definitely had blinders on when it came to the son

The whole situation is sad. My heart breaks for Savannah's family who has lost 2 family members recently to gun violence. With the publicity in the case, hopefully an arrest, if it is indeed murder, will happen quickly.

"The defendant murdered more than one person during the same criminal transaction or separate criminal transactions with a common scheme or course of conduct."

That's the one I'm going to go with at this current time.

possible murder suicide if this is true. Her in the front seat he in the back seat.
On Wednesday morning, police said that both victims had sustained a 'gunshot wound'. The unborn baby was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Soto's sister-in-law, Joanie Wasil, told local news station KSAT that someone who spotted the car contacted her on Facebook, and the family made their way to the scene after alerting police.

Wasil told the station that she saw Soto dead in the front passenger seat, and Guerra dead in the back. She saw Soto's face 'and didn't want to see anymore'.

Guerra violated his parole for the domestic violence charge just days after the Christmas Day beating last year.

They've lost three family members now - their son, daughter, and grandson.
Very sad, indeed.

I can't wrap my mind around murder/suicide. Both bodies seem to have been discovered in vehicle back seat area. If that's the case, I think the couple was killed in another location, bodies placed in vehicle back seat, then vehicle driven to that apartment parking lot.

I find the vehicle location tip to sister-in-law interesting. Also interesting, sister-in-law arrived at vehicle location before police and was able to open vehicle door. Surprised vehicle was left unlocked.MOO
ETA: Rear window and back seat windows were covered by police. Front windows not covered.

Per the DM article, she was in the front seat and he was in the back seat.
