Affidavit: Man accused of killing sergeant told a friend (mysanantonio.com)

An alleged confession to a friend the morning a Bexar County Sheriff's Office sergeant was ambushed and killed eventually led a multi-agency task force to arrest a 41-year-old man in connection with the death of Sgt. Kenneth Vann Sunday afternoon, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

Mark Anthony Gonzales, 41, is being held in Bexar County Jail on one count of capital murder. A judge set bail at $1.5 million, according to county records.

Although an arrest warrant affidavit doesn't detail what motivated the slaying, it does state that around 2:45 a.m. on May 28, Gonzales reportedly called his friend and said, “I killed a cop. Don't tell no one, not even your wife.”
