Anyone who stood by as a 2-year-old North Austin girl was beaten, allegedly by her father as he baby-sat her, should be held accountable for her murder, the girl's aunt said Saturday.

"They watched that baby suffer. It really makes me feel angry," Evalena Gaiter said following a 1-1/2-hour funeral service for Shaniya Crittle at Heritage International Christian Church, 5320 W. North Ave.

Shaniya was beaten and punched so severely by Rayonous Burnett, 24, that her screams could be heard outside the apartment, in the 1200 block of North Lamon, prosecutors said.
