TX - Shanna, 36, & Diederik Vandewege, 3 mos, slain, Fort Worth, 15 Dec 2016 *GUILTY*

or he was gonna burn the house down.

Seems unlikely that he would be driving from Colorado back to the scene of the crime in Texas to burn down the house which LE had already processed. Then again, CV doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed, so it's possible.

Well, it's MO these lawyers are going to have their work cut out for them. Texas, I believe, has the highest execution rate in the country. I know the drugs they use are an issue at the moment, I have faith there will be an ample supply when his time comes.
He is just hideous. (I like that word and have been waiting to use it.)

CV makes some good thoughts. He could have been thinking he would get by with murder, and I'm sure he had homeowners insurance, and was thinking of burning the house down to get out from under the payments.

I can't find it now but whoever said he got the gas cans like Jodi Arias I think is right.

It seems he is not very smart. Would not surprise me if he thought of burning the home. But, he thought he was slick and gonna get by with it, and probably had things he did not want to part with.

I'm anxious to find out what went down at CV's initial court appearance today but haven't seen any media reports.

The criminal court docket remains the same; still shows he was scheduled to appear at 2 pm today, bond = $0, and no change in attorneys.

I wonder why there has been no media coverage of Vandewege's initial court appearance or any case status at all since he was extradited and booked in Fort Worth.

If there are no family members to keep the media's eyes open on this case, it could just fade into the woodwork. Fort Worth is way to big of a place for a crime committed by a nobody, even one as horrific as this one. He's not another Cullen Davis, (thank God), so the media has moved on to newer crimes. Really sad.

Jeremy Hoes was one of the people to handle the bodies of the two victims when they arrived at Accu Care Mortuary Services in Fort Worth.

In the lawsuit, Hoes claimed that the company offered to pay for medical expenses instead of workers compensation, but that never happened. He is now asking for an amount between $100,000 and $1 million.

Hoes said he had suffered a post-traumatic stress reaction from performing the services on the Vandewege's, the lawsuit states.

Hoes said Accu Care did not pay for any of his medical expenses. Two days after telling the mortuary he had filed for workers' compensation, he was terminated and told his services were no longer needed, the suit states.

The suit alleged Hoes has suffered loss of earnings and mental anguish because of the mortuary's conduct.

I don't mean to sound cold, and I'm not accusing anyone, but... Is there not some sort of practice and stuff during mortician school to help desensitize them? I'm sure it was horrific, but this just strikes me...it makes me uncomfortable and dubious.

Someone who resents him for some reason or another. I can't think of anyone outside the family circle who would resent him.
