TX - Shanna, 36, & Diederik Vandewege, 3 mos, slain, Fort Worth, 15 Dec 2016 *GUILTY*

Reminds me of poor Maddox Lawrence... All that time nursing the poor girl through cancer only to murder her so brutally. In this case, all the effort and heartbreak in trying to have a baby in the first place, only to brutally murder mother and baby! I just don't understand :(

"After clocking the car traveling 37 mph in a 25 mph zone, the officer pulled over the Hyundai, which now showed a rear Texas license plate. Vandewege told the officer that he didn’t realize he was speeding and that he was headed to Las Vegas.

“It’s been a long week, my wife and kid were murdered in Texas,” Vandewege is quoted in the report as telling the officers.

"He then handed the officers an attorney’s contract for services, telling them they could call his attorney if they needed to verify what he was telling them.

“He stated that his wife and son were murdered in Ft Worth, Tx. He was showing no emotion while telling this” to the officer, the report noted.

"Glenwood Springs contacted Fort Worth police, who advised that Vandewege had not been ruled out as a suspect in his wife and child’s slaying, had “fled the area” and hadn’t had contact with investigators since, the report states.

"Glenwood Springs police asked Vandewege to step out of his car after he presented them with an expired insurance card but he responded, “No, I’m not getting out.”

“This went on for approximately 5 minutes and he finally agreed to get out of the vehicle,” the report states.

"Vandewege was then handcuffed. Asked if he had any knifes on him, Vandewege reportedly told the officer, “No, I’m not a knife guy.”

It sounds like he was preparing for a siege of some sort. Camouflage clothing, gas cans, guns and ammo. That 911 caller in Colorado may have averted a catastrophe.

That could be.

Also possible that he was looking to escape into the wilderness?

Craig Alan Vandewege has a very limited social media presence under his name, as far as I can tell.

Has anyone determined whether he really worked at Costco in FW? If so, which Costco? Was he a hunter/camper? Did he have previous marriages or arrests?

The limited amount of postings by him that I've seen so far leads me to believe that CV was immature for his age, that's about it.

I'm gonna look to see if there are public records available now that we can sleuth and post him, unless somebody has those already and has been holding back on posting them?

And this article has a side view mugshot as well, plus additional details about the arrest (he borrowed a phone to call parents and tell them three people had been arrested in the slayings? Told police he had the guns because he was going to Vegas and was going to shoot them to blow off steam?)

omg. why!!!!! why not just leave her?

Arrested on a capital murder warrant and now in jail in Colorado.

Snips:
Homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman would not disclose Thursday what evidence investigators have linking Vandewege to the slayings.

A report obtained by the Star-Telegram details his encounter with Glenwood Springs police late Wednesday as follows:

Glenwood Springs police were dispatched to a 7-Eleven about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday after a caller reported that a man had stated he was on the run from police and had gotten into a white Hyundai with no front license plate.

The caller told dispatchers that the man had borrowed his phone to call a few people to talk about a murder. He said the man, whom he identified as “Craig Allen,” was last seen heading toward City Market.

Shortly after 11 p.m., an officer spotted a similar vehicle with no rear license plate. The officer followed the car, watching as it soon pulled into a Shell gas station. The officer then saw the male driver get out of the car, retrieve a license plate from the trunk and screw it onto the car’s license plate holder.

Police did find two loaded pistols on Vandewege — one in a waistband holder and the other in an ankle holster. Vandewege presented officers with a concealed handgun permit issued out of Weld County.

“I did not observe a wedding band on Craig’s left ring finger, but he stated a wedding ring was in his pocket along with numerous condoms,” the report states.

Vandewege was taken to jail and his car impounded. Inside the vehicle, police located numerous boxes of different caliber ammunition, empty gas cans, camouflage clothing, numerous bottles of medication and an AR-15 style rifle and .22 revolver.

im thinking he has sex addiction and has been hiding it for awhile.

Why would he take condoms? On the way to the lover he murdered his wife and little angel for?

he was obviously acting strangely if someone actually called 911 after an interaction w him..

I think the initial red flag to the 7-Eleven clerk was when Craig said, "I'm on the run from the police."

This affidavit does not say he was arrested for the murders, or am I overlooking something? Just wondering whether the media is blowing this arrest out of proportion, and there was no murder arrest (yet)?

Read the article above the arrest for speeding/no insurance. It says BBM: "Fort Worth homicide detectives obtained a capital murder warrant for Craig Alan Vandewege Thursday, just hours after the 35-year-old Fort Worth man was arrested in Glenwood Springs, Colo., for allegedly speeding and failing to show proof of insurance."
