Just a (possibly important) FYI, Fox News 4 in Dallas is reporting that they are calling off the search FOR THE DAY, not indefinitely. Granted I would think they would be searching at night too, but perhaps this is a glimmer of hope....

I may have missed this earlier in the thread, but I don't remember reading this. I wonder how long the child has been with the family. (Not that I am attempting to sleuth them, just thinking out loud here.)

"Neighbors and church members arrived to family’s home in support. They say Sherin was adopted.

“She’s not talking. She’s unable to talk at this point,” said Mary Easow, who attends church with the family. “We all were praying for her upbringing and normal route.”

Never see police stop searching for a child in the first few hours. So sad. The child was adopted per the neighbor or church member in the Fox link above. She's non verbal.

I haven't looked at the other media links yet, just the last one posted by Fox. I'm wondering if the child was being punished and put outside? We've seen it happen before.

Does anyone else find it odd that she was 3 ft tall and only weighed 22 pounds?

My 'baby' is 21yrs old. I was thinking in weight was usually close to the height at that age. So 36 inches should be closer to 36lbs... right?

Also, if I see my DOG out of my yard...guess what? I go get it and bring it back home! I can't understand what happened in this 'story', and even though I think it's nothing like we've been told, usually the idiots make up a story closer to believable. Who do they think would believe you see a child out of the yard at 3 am, and you do what? Leave the child? Hope they find their way back home? Feel they don't want to helicopter the child, so the child will figure out the right decision? I just don't get it!!

Regarding her size, I have friends who adopted a 11 month old from China. She had been raised in orphanages, and had significant physical and developmental delays due to the environment. No physical stimulation, no social stimulation. She is a healthy 8th grader, but still very small, petite. So this girl could be 36 inches tall and 22 pounds, especially if she was in the orphanage system for most of her life. With the language/communication delay, that is very possible. Just my 2 cents

Would something like getting drunk and falling asleep while your children were up and roaming in the yard fall under abandoning or endangering?

It kind of sounds to me like he either saw her outside and did nothing, or put her outside? If she doesn’t talk and has developmental delays maybe he couldn’t handle her and put her outside? Ugh I hate that my mind even went there ☹️

Not much to see on his FB then, but that photo of the couple and a baby girl, it would put that baby now at 3yrs old. If so, the baby wasn't in an orphan for long.

Maybe Dad is lying about the 3 a.m. and LE suspects he's lying and are charging him with child endangerment for not notifying them earlier? Just speculating..I can't believe a man would leave his 3 yr-old daughter outside at 3 am and call LE 5 hrs. later to report her missing. This case makes no sense as of now. moo Edit to add: hoping he'll crack under pressure in jail.

Speculation: I'm wondering if he is claiming he fell asleep outside and when he woke up 5 hours later she was gone? A common lie when toddlers have been harmed starts out with the parent being asleep and the child just wandering off....:scared:
