GUILTY TX - Sherin Mathews, 3, Richardson, 7 Oct 2017 #9

Sooooo...the pictures of what he did to that precious baby, photographic images of his actions, were prejudicial & shouldn't have been shown to the jury???

Um, gee, that sounds like evidence to me, and aren't all juries presented with evidence???

I'm not a lawyer, or a nurse answering a pediatric helpline, but I don't see a problem with those pictures.

JMHO YMMV

So according to this stellar father, it is unfair for the jury to see evidence of what he did to his daughter? Doesn't seem like a valid argument, imo.

Oh poor you Wesley, get a grip man. Why shouldn't the Jury see the pictures. Pictures of what you did.

These men are so irritating, think they can do as they please then complain afterwards.

Wesley Matthews makes me wanna punch a wall! The audacity of this wretched guy! I’m seething that the pictures are kept from the jury. Where is Sherin’s justice? Whatever happened to a tooth for a tooth?

I think the only real hope WM has for any chance of ever being outside of a prison cell, is if he tells the stone cold truth of what happened. Tell the swear-to-God truth of who did what and when. He was expecting a slap on the wrist for his attempts to be .. A victim too! He tried to be a soft touch (gentle?) during that trial. Jury didn't bite on it. Nope, they saw through the attempt. (Just my opinion, as I interpreted what I saw/heard).

Why couldn't they just tell the truth? They were probably 'good people' before this. How did they fall so deep? Such resentment for the needs of special little girl.

So very sad to me that poor Sherin really had no choice, and even in her death she has not been given love and peace from those she was entrusted to.

Why can't they just tell the truth? Both WM and SM?

Sigh. So very sad.

Another therapist, this time for physical/development delays.
Thought Sherin was like a tiny baby doll, she was extra cute and they all felt lucky to treat her.
She was walking before she came to her first appointment.
She had just turned 2.
I'm glad Sherin/Saraswati had some joyful and happy times with people. A quote at the time on this thread went along the lines of, 'Wait! This baby was dumped like garbage TWICE in two different countries???'...... No words .... RIP Sherin 🤬🤬🤬

IMHO she was only dumped like garbage by Wesley & Sini!

She was placed at the gate of an orphanage in India. Likely, by a parent -- her birth mother -- who was otherwise out of options. Staff took her inside; fed, bathed, and clothed her. She formed an attachment to a caregiver. Whoever left a baby girl at the gate of an orphanage did the right thing.

After a mountain of paperwork, legal approvals, and intercontinental travel, then Wesley & Sini dumped that baby girl like garbage.

And, because of Wesley & Sini, the nation of India dumped Holt International, since their employees believed Wesley & Sini. (Jury didn't!)

Makes my head hurt.

RIP, little angel!

I think when that comment was made early on, there had been reports that she had been left in a bush and was found and taken to the orphanage. The general sentiment is the same ...she deserved so much more than she ever got 🤬🤬🤬

The server who waited on them claimed Sherin was there. That's probably why the prosecution couln't move forward with charges against Sini, even though Wesley said they left her at home. All her defense attorney needed to do is call that server as a witness.
I don’t believe this is correct. Or perhaps I’m remembering wrong and it was video evidence that proved she wasn’t with them rather than eyewitness testimony? I thought that situation had been verified to be true.

If they could verify that it was true, the charges against her wouldn't have been dropped.

“There were some issues about what eyewitness testimony that had in regards to which child was at the restaurant that night,” said Heath Harris, one of Sini’s attorneys. “Because of those issues, even though the husband had said the child was left at home you still need something else to corroborate it because he is a co-defendant.”

According to a court document filed in Wesley’s case in January, the manager of the restaurant explained that just because the receipt said three guests does not automatically mean only three people were at the table.

“This DA’s office knows they would have had problems meeting their burden of proof at trial,” Harris said.

Wesley Mathews Transferred to State Prison

The Richardson father sentenced to life in prison for the death of his 3-year-old daughter, Sherin Mathews, is in the process of being transferred to state prison.

Wesley Mathews was escorted from the Dallas County Jail on Thursday, according to jail records.

Mathews is being transferred to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, TDCJ, in Huntsville.

There, he will be processed and assigned to a permanent prison unit. NBC 5 reached out to TDCJ. They sent a statement saying: "We would not be able to comment until he is processed at one of our intake facilities and that takes about a month before any new offender is assigned to a unit."

Yes, and if the case had been brought to trial, I bet she would be. They should have let a jury decide if there was enough evidence to convict her.

I certainly feel there was evidence of neglect and abuse from one, the other or both parents, but I still think WM took the fall for Sini. JMO

Thanks, I missed this info somewhere along the way.

I think what infuriated me the most about this case was the early CPS investigation that found evidence of abuse, but they didn’t do anything since they couldn’t determine which parent may have inflicted the abuse. Why wouldn’t the guidelines be to remove the children as long as there is evidence of abuse?

I’m so tired of seeing case after case after case on here of children who are murdered after CPS investigated and didn’t take action.

I haven't posted in this case since little Sherin was found, but I've thought from the start that he took the fall for his wife. (Not that I think of him as an innocent man.)
