Sherin Mathews' mother asks for a lower bond, hearing postponed

DALLAS - A North Texas mother who is charged with the death of her adopted 3-year-old daughter wants her bail reduced.

Sini Mathews remains in the Dallas County jail charged with child abandonment. Her husband, Wesley, is accused of killing their adopted daughter, Sherin.

Sherin’s body was found in a culvert near the family’s Richardson home in October of 2017.

The bond reduction hearing for Sini on Friday was postponed until next Thursday (1/17) because the defense said it needs more time to bring witnesses forward.

Just a guess, I'm thinking there may be some cultural issues that could prevent witnesses from speaking either for or against either of the Mathews. Most likely (in my own opinion) why Sini has never said a blasted peep. Not a peep. I have disliked her persona, expecting any loving mother to protect her children, even to her own discomfort; it has appeared to me that she had not done so. I am re-thinking. I just don't know the culture.

Judge denies Sini Mathews' request to have bond lowered
DALLAS — A judge denied Sini Mathews' request to have her bond lowered regarding her child abandonment charge.

Sini Mathews is accused of abandoning her 3-year-old adoptive daughter, Sherin Mathews.

Sini Mathews has been in the Dallas County Jail since Nov. 16, 2017 when she turned herself in. Bail was originally set to $250,000 and reduced to $100,000 despite questions of flight risk.

Sini’s trial date about three weeks before her husband, Wesley Mathews’ scheduled trial. He is charged with capital murder in Sherin’s death.

There will be another hearing next week to determine if Wesley’s trial date will stand and if he and Sini will be tried together or separate.

The judge also issued a gag order on the attorneys in both cases.

Both Sini and Mathews appeared in the courtroom today and acknowledged each other in court.

I see Sini's trial is on 4/15, so probably no Motion to Sever on 2/4. I'll keep my eye out on that.

I saw this question asked and answered on a video by newscaster Maria Guerrero..they are not estranged, or more specifically, the question was asked to the attorneys, are they divorced. The answer was no they are not divorced. And they have been in communication with one another via mail. I hope I am allowed to post that here. She is the newscaster that is local to the area and assigned to the case, from the beginning.

Sherin Mathews' parents will have separate trials
DALLAS - There will be separate trials for the parents accused in the death of their 3-year-old adopted daughter, Sherin Mathews.

Wesley Mathews is charged with murder. His trial is now set for April 5. His wife, Sini Mathews, is charged with child endangerment. Her trial has been moved up to March 15.

I believe I'm reading these statements correctly..Mathews trials will be separated. Did the judge agree to this? Wow! This is a disappointment to me. I too, do believe WM is doing a bit of covering for his wife. They both harmed this child over the year or so that they were her so-called parents. So many broken bones on those autopsy X-rays..

I am not able as yet to find a news article describing the judges' action today regarding separating or leaving together Mathews's trial(s). Maybe the judge agreed, but I don't believe it was pronounced. (Says Maria Guerrero newscaster following and attending trials.)(not in those words exactly..) Can anyone clarify? Thanks.
