Opening statements ...

  • #566
Therapists who worked with Sherin will be called up first. She had been discharged from speech and physical therapy as she had met all her goals.

  • #567
No mechanical reasons for why she had feeding problems. She had been improving, she had a habit of hiding food in her cheeks.
We will never know exactly how she died. :(

  • #568
I think he just said WM did not call 911 to report Sherin missing, but phoned a local PD number!

She was so decomposed that an internal autopsy was impossible, no internal organs left :(

  • #569
Every story he told the LE was centered around drinking her milk.

He crawled into the culvert to hide her body. Took her out of the bag and placed her on her back, feet first.

So are these opening statements for a capital murder trial?
Or are they opening statements for a penalty phase for the lesser charge?

  • #571
Sole reason for this trail is to determine punishment.

  • #572
Defence opening statement now ...

WM will be speaking in this trial.

  • #573
Anything less than life in prison is not justice.
It's bad enough that Sini got away with murder.

  • #574
Speech therapist up now.
Helped Sherin with language and feeding issues.
Said Sherin was the sweetest little girl, always happy, a little shy.

  • #575
Sherin would chat to other kids and adults in the waiting room.

  • #576
They have set up 2 photos of Sherin for the jury to see.

Even though had speech issues, she would smile/nod/interact with others happily.

She had a handful of words when she first met the therapist. She would take her parent's hand to show them what she wanted.

  • #577
Sherin made great progress and hit her language goals. Had achieved them 4 months later, so was age appropriate and discharged.

  • #578
Sini had expressed concern about Sherin's feeding so the therapist continued with her for longer.

  • #579
The feeding therapy was working on trying to get Sherin ok with different foods, touch them, smell them etc. Also worked on getting her to drink from straws and sippy cups.
The feeding issues were common ones.
Therapist never noted her choking on anything. She may gag a little but never choking. No fault with her mechanisms for eating, no physical reason to choke.

  • #580
She didn't chew all foods properly. This was due to her preferences and not an inability to chew.
Sherin would pocket food - keeping it for a long time hidden in her mouth.
