Police said they were called to a home in the 700 block of Donelson Drive at around 1 a.m. Sunday by the boy’s father.

Arriving officers found the mother, identified as 50-year-old Stacy Ellen Barney, dead inside the home.

The 15-year-old boy, who was not identified, was found in the area after a search.

I'm assuming that this young man was troubled, and the parents knew it and were trying to deal with it. It is very sad for all involved.

Where was the father when this was happening? Why didn't he or couldn't he intervene?

How horrific and to be so scared of him for so long. It seems some people are just born damaged.

He told his parents at the young age of 7 that he'd kill his whole family. He killed his mom and tried to kill his dad. Thank goodness the other two children were spared.

He killed his mom the same day his parents told him they were enrolling him in a residential treatment center the following morning. If only the parents hadn't told him this! That kind of news should be kept quiet until the very last second. It's not surprising that info triggered him into a violent rage.

This kid seems unredeemable to me. He has been homicidal since age 7 and beat his mom to death with a hammer. I don't see much room for redemption. He belongs in jail for life.
