*sigh*

I have rarely been able to follow a case from begining to end. Well, not like this one. This moment is hard.

I don't ever want to forget Jonathan, or this case, or his family, and his mother.

Today is a good day, still so very bittersweet.

*tear*

I hope this brings a little bit of peace to this devastated family. Jonathan's case will be with me always. The time of the year, the sweetness of his smile and the monsterousness of his killer...I will never forget.

HOUSTON—A Harris County judge has found Mona Nelson guilty in the capital murder of 12-year-old Jonathan Foster.

Nelson will now serve life in prison without parole. She was accused in the kidnapping and murder of Jonathan on Christmas Eve in 2010.

Snipped:

“I am extremely convinced, I am 100-percent convinced that there was no other person that was involved in this case....everything leads to Mona Nelson, absolutely,” Prosecutor Connie Spence said.

Snipped:

District Judge Jeannine Barr returned with a decision in the case on Tuesday morning.

In court Nelson reacted calmly to Barr’s decision. When asked if she had anything to say Nelson said, “I’m innocent, and an innocent person is going to prison.”

Mona Nelson guilty of capital murder in death of 12-year-old boy

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Houston woman accused of kidnapping and killing a 12-year-old boy nearly three years ago learned her fate Tuesday morning. A judge found Mona Nelson guilty of capital murder in the 2010 death of Jonathan Foster.

Snipped:

Prosecutors Connie Spence and Sunni Mitchell spent two weeks methodically building their case, with multiple witnesses, cell phone records, and even grainy surveillance video. Taking no chances, even though they only had to convince a judge of one instead a jury of 12, that Nelson was guilty of murder.

Jonathan's mother was not in court Tuesday morning, but prosecutors spoke with her after the verdict was announced.

"I just talked to her on the phone and she let out a whoop of you," said Spence. "She felt very satisfied. Obviously, this is not in any way going to diminish her missing her child, but the fact that someone is held responsible, I think she's very, very grateful for."

HOUSTON -
Mona Nelson, a welder and former boxer was found guilty of Capital Murder Tuesday morning, and sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole for the murder of a Houston boy.

Snipped:

“She tried to accuse me of having something to do with it. It's hard enough to lose someone you love without being accused of it.” Davis said after the verdict was handed down.

Davis was excluded as a suspect after police turned up cell phone records and video showing he was at a local ice house during the time the boy was killed.

Homicide investigators found Foster's sweatshirt with Nelson's blood on it, and pieces of charred carpet found with his body in a trash can at Nelson's house.

Ann-TX thanks for all the links. This is a tremendous help to me as I gather info for the archive.

I find it strange that Mom and/or Stepdad were not there in court to represent Jonathan especially the day of the verdict.
Sad.

This thing that murdered him will burn for eternity.

Angela Motal said she long ago forgave Mona Nelson for abducting and killing her 12-year-old son two years ago.

However, she still wants an answer to the biggest question about Jonathan Foster's death on Christmas Eve 2010: Why?

"I wanted to ask her so many questions, but I couldn't and that was hard," Motal said about testifying against her son's alleged killer. "I wanted to get her in a room and give her my own interrogation."

Snipped:

Motal said she believes God has a plan that includes her forgiving Nelson, and the verdict means her son can "finally rest in peace."

Despite saying she had forgiven Nelson, Motal did not return to the courtroom for closing arguments.

Amanda, I think it is strange too that Angela was not there the day of the verdict. Very unusual.

(note) I am having some glitches with keeping the files organized. Some new items keep popping to the end of the archive. The way it is set up, it should be newest-first, so bear with me.

You just keep doing your thing, Amanda! However it works out is good by me!!! Thank you for all you do (for all the cases)!:seeya:

This video (click on Link below) to honor Jonathan Paul Foster was made by a friend of mine in January, 2011.

I shared some of the beautiful things said about Jonathan at his Memorial service with my friend, "Piper", and suggested she use the song which was played at Jonathan's Memorial Service in Houston, TX on January 4, 2011 in creating a video to honor Jonathan Foster.

I could say something but that would probably get me in trouble here. You can't really be a father figure or be considered a step dad in 3 weeks. That's how long Jonathan lived with him. Jonathan forever holds a special place in my heart, he wasn't just my nephew. We raised him for 4 years. The heart ache that child went through in 4 years of just wanting to be accepted by his mother, to know that she loved him and cared about him. If I didn't live in Missouri I would have been there for the trial, and the verdict. It's really a shame that his mother wasn't there for him then and isn't still today.
