Can you believe they waited 6 months before arresting this piece of crap! How many more times did he abuse this baby before they finally went in to make the arrest. :furious:

I know they were trying to get more evidence against him but I think they had enough. :furious:

I don't know if they waited that long, or if at the time of the arrest was long after the other event and they found out about it during investigation for other abuses. Or if it took them that long to identify the perp, from computer files.

How in the world could this sentence be so light? It is a baby for Christ's sake. Is it OK to rape a baby because they can't talk? Some of these cases are so repugnant that it makes your mind reel. But, actually I find the revealing of them to be very, very importent.Knowledge is everything.

They were convicted of child & transporting child via the wire service (telephone/cable). There are seldom Federal sentences handed down for rape or murder unless a victim has been transported between state lines, or interstate communication/commerce was used to facilitate a conspiracy (and that is usually just conspiracy charges). It is up to the indvidual STATE to file charges & impose sentencing of crimes against a peron within its borders. State penalties can range from probation to death, depending on the crime and the region. Believe me, both of these men have state time (probably a great deal of it) as well as Federal time on their hands.

I hope so and I am glad my uncle judge is retired. He let too many offenders off with little time only to re-offend.

I also want to mention how glad I am that FBI is watching the internet and busting these pervs left and right.

I could never be a cop. I would have planted a gun on him after I blew him away. I would have shot him at least six times before I gave him the fatal one. Kneecaps, feet, hands, wait an hour to see if he'll bleed to death, and then finish him off.

My sister is a cop and I won't say where. She picked up a guy who raped a 10month old. Well he had a very bad "accident" and had to go to the emergency room before she got him to the jail. hehehehheheehe

Yeah she was driving down the highway at 70mph and had to slam on brakes real hard to avoid hitting a puppy. Perps face smashed into the steel mesh in the squad car. That happened after he resisted arrest and she had to slam him on the head with her baton to get him under control to cuff him. Or so her report said....LOL. She's onl 5'3" so yeah it's believable! He had a broken nose, stitches and to be put in a neck brace.

Here is the info I based my statement on... I don't think it would take them that long since they had been talking with him the whole time... I could be wrong... Someone please correct me if I am.
In May 2004, after Jeffs was arrested, undercover authorities assumed the calaire2002 screen name and chatted with Hawkins "about child and the sexual abuse of children, including toddlers and infants," according to court documents.

Later that month, Hawkins sent calaire2002 a link to an online photo album showing child .

At one point he tried to arrange, with another chat room user from Dallas, for calaire2002 to bring his daughter to Dallas so Hawkins could engage in sexually explicit conduct with the infant, court documents show.

That meeting never occurred. Devlin said the Dallas user was eventually arrested and prosecuted.

In June of this year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents searched Hawkins' house in North Austin and seized his computer. A month later, Hawkins again sent instant messages to calaire2002, asking whether he was going to do another broadcast with his daughter, court documents show. Hawkins was arrested in July.

I may not understand why they waited so long to make the arrest, especially with a child in that kind of danger. But I have to give them props for this...

Unless it's just a case of California judges vs. Texas judges.

Why would the man who raped his own baby and sold the video images get less prison time than someone who bought the video images?

edited to add: This may not have anything to do with anything, but at the local flea market, there is a booth that sells rape videos. They may be staged. They're all adults, it may be actors, I don't know. But anyway, they show snippets of them and there are always men crowded around watching the rapes while the women scream on the TV monitor. I can't believe it. Its just chilling, chilling chilling to me to see how many men will crowd around a grainy video monitor to watch a woman get raped.

I'm surprised the poor baby survived this. Several years ago, a man in Idaho raped his girlfriend's 3 year old son. He died from the injuries. (The boy had a rectal perforation that caused serious infection.)

Both of the punishments in this case are way too light. I hope these 2 get to spend some quality time with the general population! :furious:

I know this is off the subject, but I could probably start a thread on my cop sister's antics. She just HATES child molesters and rapists! Once she was investigating a man who was sodomizing his 8 year old stepson. All medical evidence proved he was doing that to the child. Well when the perv was brought in the jail after found guilty she purposely put him a cell with felon waiting to transfer to the state prison she knew would take advantage of the perv. This guy was definitely a Big Bubba. When she put the pervert in the cell, she introduced him to "Bubba" as his entertainment for the evening and told Bubba what the perv was in for. She said Bubba got on the bus with a smile when they transferred him. LOL

The best thing from that story is the then little 8 year old boy is also a police officer now. My sister kept in touch with her "little Miguel" through the years and sort of adopted him as her own as she doesn't have sons.

I'm just glad this guy (and others) are put away. Can you imagine the job of working onthe internet looking at child rapes to catch preditors? what kind of stomach do you need for that job? :banghead:

Am I the only one wondering how the heck you rape a baby? Wouldn't that tear them or cause internal injuries, if not death? I just don't understand it. It must be a power play. We really need to get more serious w/ anyone who so much as touches a baby or child. This really makes me sick!

Cass I couldn't even begin to tell you how many times I've cried with my sister over the things she's seen. She's been in LE for 21 years and I honestly don't know how she maintains her sanity. There is no way in H*ll I could do that job! I understand when you hear of police officers taking their own lives. I'm in tearing up now remembering her fellow officers who did that because I knew them. She is went from patrol, to being the first female SGT, to Commander of Internal Affairs, and now a LT on the force. She has such a big heart and it's truley heartbreaking to her when the justice system lets her down with ridiculously lenient sentences. Knowing her, the perv raping the baby would have been dead, and she would have found a way to cover her *ss on it. And yes, that would be wrong for her to do. After all there's a freaking video of him raping the baby! There aren't fonts big enough on a computer to express how much she hates that happening to children! She is such a good and honest cop, that a biker gang helped her corner a guy who raped his 6 year old daughter when he ran through their bar to try to escape her. These were some scary dudes but they knew her reputation and helped her track him down. They found him for her in 10 minutes and held him for her.
