The one question that always comes to mind when I hear a story of a parent that harms or kills their child because "God told them to" is why doesn't God ever tell them to kill themselves?

i read this to say the guy acted normal on tape and not crazy at all while he re-enacted the crime. then the defence attorney says that is a good thing because it will show the difference between how he when crazy even though we dont have that behavior on tape. hell i guess when this guy is your client you grasp at what straws you can.Cammack said he would probably withdraw his objection to the showing of a video re-enactment by Mauldin with a teddy bear of the events leading to the baby being placed in the microwave oven.
"In a way it supports our case," he said, because the video shows a moment of lucidity that can be compared with the period of insanity at the time of the alleged incident.

i can completely understand what you are saying. what i can not understand is how acting sane proves you are insane at some other point. my husband's uncle is schizophrenic and i have seen the pain of his family as they deal with such a horrible illness. cancer we can understand because a doctor can run a test and say yes or no. we can even see the proof in the form of tumors. mental illness can be just as deadly but sometimes near impossible to see. i was speaking on this case alone. acting normal proves nothing. it does NOT prove he must have been insane when he committed the crime. some people abuse their kids because they are mentally ill, some because they are over whelmed, and some are just plain evil.My grandma was a Paranoid schizophrenic. On the outside she appeared sweet, lovable and the best person ever. She wrote poems about me and called me her little JellyBean. She was snuggly and always approachable. However, to my father she could be cruel and just plain out of her mind. She swore there where conspiracies with her and the gov't or aliens. She would get pregnant and lift heavy objects to have miscarriages. She even told my father that she tried to kill him like that but failed. She would also make my father talk to the people in the vents and once spent a whole day letting my father believe his dad had died and would never come home. When he did come home she told him he was lying and she never said that.
On the outside....grandma who gives wet kisses and makes good cookies.
On the inside......mother who is so ill she torments her children. Emotional abuse lasts forever.....
I also have a cousin who is Paranoid Schizophrenic and has Asbergers. That's a whole other ball of wax.
Mental illness is just that. A weird roller coaster ride with a blindfold on. You never know how they are going to act from one minute to the next and with who.
