I recall way back during the Scott/Laci Peterson case..thousands of us were on the old Court TV forums & I would swear that criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos had a "war-room" of posters on the board trying to spin & defend Scott.
Could have been. But I doubt the swaying of WSer's would help in his attempt to sway jurors. Which leads me to my next "I have wondered" thought. I have wondered if jurors paneled on a current non-sequestered jury came home nightly and re-watched daily trial re-posted nightly on You Tube and monitored and possibly participated on WS . I, more believe, Geragos could use WS's combined attitude to interpret how the jurors had interpreted that daily testimony allowing hos defense to react daily rather than waiting and guessing on jury actions days/weeks/months later.

Not true for most smart phones. Most backup to a cloud environment now within minutes of a new picture or video being shot--unless the phone is in airplane mode. But I believe all new stuff is immediately uploaded as soon as you put the phone back online.
Again, that's not true or accurate. Android phones DO NOT upload anything unless it is a function of the app. It's totally app specific. I'm certain iPhones also do what the app dictates.

iPhones can be OPTIONALLY linked to your iCloud account. From there you have pretty "granular" control over which apps use iCloud, and how and when they use it.

i think the reason all the types of police officers from all over are involved is because of how this killer wore the police get up -- - think what a crazy usa this would be if theree starts to be a bunch of kopy kats just dressing up like swat ---- if things in the usa now seem back doncha think thatd make all of it even worse o its terroristic

And yet, whether linked or not, apple has the info if I buy a new phone and want it loaded up. I understand you can turn off your personal cloud account. That does not mean that the company does not keep a copy on their own servers.

I never sign into the "cloud" on my iPhone. Have have, never will.

My mom uses a Tracphone and I don't even think those have a cloud.

The whole LinkedIn thing makes me think this is CG related. Who uses LinkedIn except people who need to network? Especially MLM ones? I never used LinkedIn, but I'm old and retired so maybe it caught on after I retired. Maybe it's the new Facebook for working people. Do regular 9-5 working people have LinkedIn? Sorry to be old but I don't think LinkedIn is used by the average blue collar Joe/Jill or secretary. Or old people.

Sending a LinkedIn "creepy" message from an unknown person, while people were going out of town to a CG conference, makes me think this is a wife who is savvy to the whole LinkedIn networking set up. And it could be there were creepy messages before the Austin conference, and this is why Missy wasn't acting herself, as her gym pal stated.

Which is why a hired hitman, pro or not, would use a non-phone device. Before these smart phones took over everyone, there were (and are) very nice mini cameras that take short videos, too, and no need to load it to a cell tower or cloud. just saying

Exactly. I don't think it's as innocent as many posters are assuming, otherwise it would not have been mentioned by LE, IMO. A LE friend of mine said "flirtatious and familiar" could mean anything from "you looked hot today", to sexting and exchanging photos. The fact that it was mentioned at all led my friend to think it was more than innocent flattery.

Exactly and they were deleted... yet ole Bad A$$et Cellebrite restored some ;) And it was powerful enough to get that certain time frame frozen emergency data requested FAXED over

I can easily go into my iPhone right now and LOG OUT of my iCloud account. At that point, there is no place for photos or videos to be uploaded TO. Trust me that Verizon is not storing everybody's photos and videos in their entire customer base.

I know people think of phones as magic, omnipotent devices at this point, but there really are limitations--unless you're a big-brother style conspiracy theorist.
Um, respectfully, I used to work for a company that manufactures the phones and software around it. Trust me when I say nothing on your phone is private. If you are involved in the "big data" movement afoot, you know that pretty much everything you do is being captured. Your cloud account is the info YOU want to access. Read the fine print on the contracts you have signed.

So help me out. Please let me know how this is possible.
Umm... check a box? My phone, by default doesn't upload video or pics. It would chew up my data limit. By default, mind you.

My husband works in the oil industry and they use LinkedIn all the time. He also gets lots of requests from high school and college friends.

Just a couple of months ago there were congressional hearings with the Director of the FBI paneled right after Apple attorney had center stage discussing Apple potentially being forced to hack the phone to reveal San Bernardino killers. Apple now has strong enough encryption to thwart LE for the first time ever. Consumers and mftr's both have been seeking this strong encryption for long time but for the first time ever it removes a tracking tool for LE

I, and almost everyone I work with, has a linked in profile. I'm in software/hardware. They are very useful for networking for business. I laughed when I first read about the relationship being carried on through LinkedIn. That never would have occurred to me because I only use it for business purposes. But it is very popular with headhunters and great for finding new opportunities as well.

I'm not getting technical but every bit of everything you do on your phone isn't instantly logged into cyber world backup. I have an iPhone and have had both options on/off for photos, data, cloud, etc to be stored. There are phone settings, cloud settings and Verizon account settings I had to go through. I'm not even technical and I know that much. I do know a lot can be retrieved from your browser and definitely iMessage is stored but a video taken and not backed up then deleted would not be recovered IMHO

Ask a local 15 yr old to help you. They know all the right settings :) (humor and fact intended)
