Deciding that a perp is certain ethnic identity is precisely what's not being done and I don't know where your source is that LE has even gone so far as to say the perp is "light skinned." Your comments on gender matter as if they came from Mexico, it would not be a short male or average female. You have no idea what the country of origin is of the perp in order to say what is or isn't average.

The LEO literally said that the perp is light-skinned during today's press conference. That is a fact.

Going back to the beginning : I read that this was either MB's last class at the church,or very close to the last class. Astounding coincidence jmo Why did this perp want/need to go out on that stormy night to murder this woman at that church ? Did he want to make a specific point by doing this there ?

I think he was acting out some bizarre mindgame/fantasy, with the "police" clothing, and mugging for the security camera the way he did. very dangerous individual. jmo

Small,agile guy. Slick,but crazy. jmo

Do you know where you read that? Not doubting you I just have never seen that (about last class at the church part) Where was she suppose to be moving to? TIA

I also don’t understand how BB could say that Missy wasn’t targeted (in the beginning), when he had only seen the 7 second video, and when he himself said that he warned Missy about the early classes and about being careful only weeks prior to her murder…just my opinion.

Did he warn her? I may have misunderstood, but I thought that he told his mother that he was worried about that. JMO

During the presser @ 14:29, Deputy Chief Johnson mentions that this murder has been compared to a previous in Cofton (?) county that had a lot of theories at the beginning, none of which turned out to be correct. What murder is he referring to?

Kaufman county murders when Eric Williams killed two prosecutors and one of their wives. They original thought it was a motorcycle gang related murder.

Why isn't the license plate number visible on that Nissan? It's very well lit. If it's been hidden by LE in the photo, why don't they look it up? Perhaps owner had one of those devices to block plate from camera, which is suspicious IMO.

I don't see a front plate. Only the sticker looking thing. TX veh have a front and rear plate. But in Arkansas for instance we only have the rear plate. Possible could have been someone traveling through and due to the storm pulled over. I know I have traveled 35E many times and pulled off for gas/potty break at Midlothian. But where I stop its off then right back on.

Agree entirely with you. I still see a targetted hit of some kind with not enough information to know what motive is behind it.

(I know I said I'm out for awhile but I'm back already. Oh dear.)

It's not enough these days to commit murder with a well planned disguise. Your defense attorney has to provide the jury with an alternative suspect. Our swat perp is playing a long game.
Thus the concealment of gender, etc.
There must be a high degree of trust between him and the one who hired him.

* IMO IMO IMO *

The thing is that when the police say that Person A is not a suspect, people read into that that Person A has been cleared. That is not the case. Police have not "cleared" anyone. No one is cleared, no one is a suspect.

Yes LE offered the disclaimer that no one gets "absolutely excluded" until the murder is solved. But it's more balanced if we listen to the whole context of what was actually said here, which includes a better explanation of why they were even mentioned in the first place. Here's exactly what was said:

"As is to be done in any murder investigation where the suspect is not known, the initial focus was on people who were close to the victim, such as friends, family, and coworkers.

These persons are often referred to as persons of interest. From persons of interest sometimes come suspects.

At this point, none of the friends, family or co-workers of Missy Bevers are considered suspects.

Despite various theories circulating through social media, none of the people named in our affidavits are now suspects.

Several family members seem to also be at the center of the public's focus. I just want to be clear that the Bevers family including Mr Bevers and his father have been cooperative, forthcoming, and provided detailed alibis that have all been corroborated through independent sources. Until Missy's killer is caught, I will stop short of saying that any person is absolutely excluded, but to be clear, none of Missy's family are at the focus of this investigation.

I do want to remind the public that Missy Bevers was a loving wife, a mother, a sister and a daughter. She has 3 beautiful daughters herself ...."

[From this, he went into a request to be careful what you post on SM because of the possible future effect on the daughters and on the investigation.]

The first thing I thought of when I saw the oval sticker (and after some experimenting with contrast settings) was the state of Colorado flag. Does anyone else see this?

I think LE knows that this killing was not totally random. I think something on the rest of the video the public hasn't seen confirms this. I think that's why they don't seem concerned about warning anyone in the community to be extra vigilant.

The press conference seemed, to me, to serve two purposes:

1) Stop spreading stupid rumors on social media that waste our time.

2) Help us find the owner/driver of this vehicle.

Why isn't that worthy of a press conference? People are practically begging for updates and information. Seems like the LEO just can't win.

I agree! While it didn't have any of the information I wanted to hear, I do think this PC did absolutely serve a purpose for LE. Do I think they have more information than they shared? Ummm.....yeah. A lot more. I think they're doing a great job though and working their tails off! I'm not worried about this case AT ALL.

I admit that I am frustrated. I'm impatient for justice in the form of a perp on a silver platter. :waiting:

The owner of the car may be innocent but may not want to contact police to avoid search warrants for phones to see if they are lying.

What if the driver just left his lovers house and was on the way home and pulled over to send a text to whomever or to get his story straight.

That person would be risking a divorce if they told LE it was them and why they were there. Jmo.

So they may want to come forward but can't. Idk

I'm guessing this is the same "unknown car parked in the distance" that LE have previously expressed could somehow be related to the suspect? (Though they were careful in how they stated it back then, too--think that was a Daily Mail article, IIRC). I think the driver is not likely to want to come forward despite LE's claim that they just want to have a little chat. But I think it could be that LE phrased it that way in a presser so that someone else who knows of such a car would tip them off as to a possible owner. And, innocent or not, (eg. affair or not), the failure of that driver to come forward after such a public appeal today would also make for a more damning case against the driver. So, while LE has maybe put that driver between a rock and a hard place, it seems good strategy.

I do agree that males (on average) are taller than females. However, I respectfully, question this source. My husband is Jewish and we live in a very Jewish area of the country. Most of the Jewish men I know are 5'10" and taller - quite opposite of the stereotype many people have that "Jewish men are short." Plus, the range given for the perp (5'2" to 5'7" is quite broad in my opinion). I just think it's a bad idea to start deciding the perp is a certain "ethnicity" - what if we knew the perp had a big nose? Would we then say - certain ethnicities have big noses? And then start saying the perp must by x ethnicity? Plus, here's a link that counters the ethnicity/height correlation. http://genetics.thetech.org/ask-a-geneticist/ethnic-groups-and-height
I post the link just to point out that there is debate w/in scientific the community about a lot of topics, and this appears to be one as well.
Plus, for MB's case, even LE is just saying the perp is "light-skinned" - that's pretty vague. Think of how many "ethnicities" have light skin. I think we need to focus on evidence of car, relationships, etc. Not enough to go on w/ physical characteristics at this point. JMO.

It's general. It's a start, it's not the be-all end-all definitive. Nobody will have tunnel vision based on height any more than what we're all done so far.

It's as much a clue as anything else so far. :dunno:

I think the downward trending height of the suspect can be considered 'progress' because I also sense it came about after the Tarrant County specialists went back to CC with reenactment and new measurements. It appears that if male, he is an shorter than average male if Caucasian. Possibly Hispanic or Asian ethnicity if adult male; possibly a juvenile male of any ethnicity. The way Swatperp ran his hands along the hallway wall (and also the vandalizing) makes me think juvenile male. (I walked the halls with juveniles for many years in a previous career, and this wall touching was by far a predominantly MALE trait.)

So I still believe Swatperp was a male based on stride, body proportions, viciousness of attack, and (most of all) the sheer strength it took to peel off that exterior panic hardware with a crowbar or similar tool. Like LE stated today, I think he may also have had an accomplice (though not on the property).

That's a great guess. Looks pretty close. Anyone here with experience in rental cars know if rental cars ever have any stickers or decals similar to the one in the video? I don't remember a decal on any rental I've ever driven.

I think that someone was doing something to scare her in the weeks leading up to her murder. From what I've read on multiple sites (not sure if true), she stopped going to the gym 3 weeks prior to her death, and she was planning on moving her classes to a different location after 4/18.

I think it is possible someone was trying to scare her, and maybe didn't even mean to kill her that morning. Could explain killer's lax attitude while walking around breaking stuff, as well as not caring about the cameras being on. He/she just planned to scare her, maybe rough her up a bit. It just doesn't make sense for a killer to know they are on camera and continue on with what they're doing/murder someone.

Who knows tho... JMO/MOO.

Completely agree. The whole Police costume and staging a robbery was to fool her to get close to her. They knew that if she recognized them she would run or call 911. I hate to admit it but I have been entangled in an affair I wanted to end and the person reacted badly and did things to scare me. We've always known that Missy fought back, surely the breaching hammer was not chosen as a murder weapon. LE would have only had to look at my phone, texts to know I was dealing with a problem/threat. I'm sure MPD can see this too, they just need more evidence.

Do we have any behavior analysts here?

I have a question regarding the original presser.

  • #137
I re-watched the LE press conference. Chief Johnson said that close family, friends, and co-workers start as POIs and can go from that to become a suspect. He said no one is a suspect. To me, that reads, no one is a suspect but they are still POIs. Does anyone agree?
Absolutely!

There was a carjacking in the Midlothian Wal-Mart on Easter Sunday. The two male suspects were caught on video, and they were dropped off nearby by a third suspect driving... a silver sedan.

http://www.waxahachietx.com/article/20160331/NEWS/160339870

Could there be a connection here?

This is interesting....

I'm not good with cars, but surely police could identify the brand (brand?) of that one. They look the same to me. Can someone more car-y please have a look?

" Light skinned" is interesting verbiage Not at all the same as saying "Caucasian". jmo

I've gone thru this thread and cleaned it up. Stop with the snide remarks to your fellow sleuther.

Leave the modding to the mods. Period.

As it stands no one in the Bevers Family has been named a POI/Suspect. So.....don't accuse them, bash them or call them names. This is a victim friendly site and they are victims also.

BB and RB's alibis have checked out per LE. Leave it alone and move on.

NO bashing LE!

Please thank this post.
