IMO the flashlight being held a certain way is not that unusual for that area.

You are correct that the way the flashlight is held is not dispositive. It does not prove law enforcement experience, but taken with the other items I feel the elements fit together like pieces of a puzzle.

I mean I think he (using generically) is wearing a communications device, like a walkie-talkie, and he has headphones in his ears, and it is the type of device that he would need to push a button to talk, kind of like the volume control on iPhone earbuds.

I'm leaning toward the possibility that the perp was not working alone. The seeming nonchalance could be because he has someone tipping him off to MB's approach/arrival.

You could be right. If so, that would tend to rule out a lot of the motives that have been speculated on here. Crime of passion? A jealous wife or jealous husband, or an obsessed camp student angry over unrequited love? Something like that usually involves one person working alone. Because really, who calls up a friend and says, "I'm really angry at this woman. Will you come along and help me kill her"? If two people were working together to kill her, then that's a different type of murder altogether.

It would also rule out an interrupted burglary. If the burglar knows Missy is arriving soon, and has someone on the outside tipping them off when she arrives, that burglar is out the door and gone before Missy gets inside.

Maybe the perp escaped through a window where he/ she downed Missy. That would explain the glass and why there's no footage of the perp leaving.

One thing I was starting to wonder about. Could the first camper be a lookout for the murderer? This person could have followed MB to allow a heads up about the arrival. They could also make sure no-one else enters until the building is clear. Your item 7 makes me think this is very possible. I wonder (hope) if there are mics on these cameras.

But it does look like it is typical vest to hold all needed items for a LE or security guard.

Also the inside person does not seem to worried about making noise and being in plain site before MB shows up.

Bill I really think you catch a lot of real possible scenarios.

Perp is man, with beer belly and loves to ride bikes
Perp's wife is a camper and friend of Missy (think they both are)
Perp planned this because he was infatuated with her or someone asked him too commit the crime
Perp staged the church
Perp acted dumb and was full of himself in front of the camera

That's true. If he held the flashlight like I do (underhand, like a garden hose or some such) it would tend to dismiss LE or military training.

Exactly!

Who here remembers the old intro to the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie? That person held the flashlight like most laypeople do, but most LE and military in my experience hold it up to eye level.

They could be keeping a presence at the workouts as a way to reassure the community, I am sure people are nervous...especially the gladiator group.

I think it likely that someone who has been involved with the gladiators at some point is the killer. So maybe they are studying who shows up to work out and how they act.

I've been reading on and off today and I see there really isn't any "new" news today.

I do have a question, though. An acquaintance of mine was tagged in a photo this morning of the workout in Midlothian. The comments said that there is still a police presence at these workouts. Is this common given the situation or can we read more into it? Just wanted some opinions on it. I can see that it might just be standard operatin procedure but I can also see how we could read more into it. Thanks

About a co-killer: IMO Absolutely this is the one sole LOCAL man who did this. No need for a 2nd - it was 0400am & they were out in the boondocks - all would have been quiet as a mouse. BUT good guess on your part, you who think that (this is IMO !!).

I think of this man as disturbed like Dennis Rader/serial killer who get his 'murder stuff' out in the garage: IMO this man is kinda like D Rader but this man is
A. A social guy - police jacket to the halloween party
B. Out to bars some with men & women of his age
C. Married most likely or at least in some stable live in relationship.

I HAVE CHANGED MY VIEWS ON ONE THING since last I was here: I was thinking about D Rader and thought this killer maybe had some of his 'junk' hidden at home, like attic above garage. Nope. Now I think this guy buried all his kerap afterward & he'd pre-dug the hole.

All I can figure as to how he slipped out from his wife if that she's also a boozer & so she got drunk but because this man is such a planner, he tried getting to take benzo' along with the booze b4 the murder so he would be sure she'd be completely asleep/passed out while he was 'out' (remember that ishy Michael Peterson/Chicago.... he went out in the night, & wearing black!) but she'd lie to po po that she WAS SURE HE WAS HOME IN BED WITH HER, well, pretty sure...

Some random speculation, moo

Saran Wrap --> used to tie up victims limbs, restrain hands or legs, used for strangling/choking, used for gagging purposes. Can also be used to pick up & store bullet casings, or small weaponry. Perhaps he wanted to ask the victim questions before murdering? Perhaps he wanted to torture before killing? Saran Wrap would work.

Perp perimeter walk --> methodically checking to ensure no one else is in the building; he's pretty sure there isn't anyone so it is rather perfunctory.

Perp's demeanor --> cool & void of extremes; just another patrol for him...he's done his rounds many times (LE, military, or security experience)

Perp talking into neck microphone --> he is telling someone that "all is clear".....& he is getting told she will be arriving in 15 minutes. Is it 15 minutes from her house to this church cause I think that's about the time remaining until our victim arrives, no? And of course, this means there's an accomplis. Was there a car parked idling by our victim's house or street? Did our victim call or text anyone at this time saying "I'm leaving" or "I'm on my way"?

This perp is experienced, methodical, organized. A "pro"

A thought about the gait: Since it is unusual, I imagine locals are probably watching how everyone walks. In a small community like this, it seems that someone would have either noticed someone who walks like this or already knows them. But since no one has came forward and no arrests have been made (unless LE has their eye on someone with this particular walk and are biding their time) it makes me wonder if this person is not from out of town and was hired. Hope this makes sense.

Could be. They needed to wrap up the potato salad from the weekend.

I have looked and I feel it is either a piece of paper or a vent.

Also, if this was a robbery, why not find the safe and just go at the safe with the tools? This person was taking a tour. They briefly walk in and out of unlocked doors, from what we can see on the video. However, they don't stay in the rooms long enough to really see what is in there that can be stolen. Wouldn't the safe normally be in the office area of the church? I'm no robber but if I was breaking in to get my hands on Sunday's cash, I would head straight for the offices and try to locate the safe and break into it. I wouldn't take a scenic tour of the church wandering around like a peg leg ballerina looking for my lost tutu.
