Circumstances of Recovery: Justice of the Peace Jim McMurtry ruled homicide today in the death of an unidentified man found lying on Gregg Manor Road, one mile north of U.S. Hwy. 290 near Manor early Sunday. Sheriff’s Capt. Lloyd Manley said the Mexican-American man in his 20’s had three knife wounds on the right side of his neck. The man had no money or identification papers when found, Manley said.
McMurtry said the only clue to the man's identity was a tatoo which gave the name, "Jose Juarez." The peace justice said he thought the man could be an illegal alien. His fingerprints were being checked Monday in police and sheriff department files. McMurtry said the dead man was wearing clothing when he was found but his pants were disheveled as if someone had searched his pockets thoroughly.
