TX - Trial of Robert Durst in the murder of Morris Black

The prsecutor mentioned that you should watch it? That seems so weird to me.

I must share an "aha" moment. I live in Galveston county and was summoned to jury duty last week. I wasn't chosen but during voir dire the prosecutor asked if we had watched Jinx. Only a few raised their numbers. She mentioned Durst, said we should watch, that it was really good. And here we are. Weird!

Strange thing....I live in G county and have lived in Harris as well. I have only been called for jury duty once, when I was 18 years old. I don't understand why as I vote, drive and am not a felon. I might be the only person that doesn't TRY to get out of jury duty, yet can't get called in! lol

Several of us wanted to be on the jury and weren't chosen. It is a cap murder trial too! They asked if we had any family in LE and my brother is. That may have gotten me released!

The documentary's interviewer has the newly found letter and envelope with the same misspelling and block font style as the cadaver note / envelope. The interviewer ambushes Robert Durst by first asking him several "softball" easy questions about some photos and then just hands Robert the newly found letter and envelope, and lets them hang there for Robert's reaction - well, it is frighting to watch Robert as he puts it together, he begins to burp, almost vomit, and puts hands to his face, he then 'rights himself" and denies that he wrote it. The interview ends, and everyone tries to make light chit chat (it is really weird and scary - frighteningly scary).

Robert then goes into the bathroom, but is still mic'd. Here is what was recorded... it is Robert, breathing heavily at times, making odd noises, running the water and slowly talking to himself, here is what he said;

There it is, you are caught
You're right of course
But, you can't imagine
Arrest him
I don't know what's in the house
Oh, I want this
What a disaster
He was right
I was wrong
And the burping

****then what sounds like Robert throwing up*****

I'm having difficulty with the questions
What the hell did I do
Killed them all, of course

Sounds like he has more than one personality.

Yes! The prosecutor said it to the whole jury pool! A lot of weird things happen here on the island!

How in the world was he acquitted? Was it because the could never find the head? I guess I need to go wiki this case.

I didn't follow the trial but with Dick DeGuerin as his attorney I think the prosecution had to have been out-layered.

Just MOO

I can find bits and pieces. Does any one have the entire video?

Anyone know if Durst was still residing in Galveston. I had forgotten all about his until recently. If so, he is right in my backyard. Dang it, I do not have HBO!

He was living in Houston. Rice Blvd/Kirby area.
He picked up a prescription at that CVS then casually pissed on the candy display

I logged to to my cable provider, where I pay my bill and hit the TV tab. Then I typed in The Jinx in the search bar and hit watch online. So it would be your cable provider website. It looks like it is on demand on your DVR as well.

I'd also like to add that I am already nauseated and I am only 5 minutes in. It is graphic.

The local DA in Galveston had no chance.
Durst had probably the top three lawyers in Texas: DeGuerin, Mike Ramsey and Chip Lewis
The jurors from Galveston continue to believe in Durst in The Jinx

Durst was living in Houston last year when he was arrested for peeing on candy at CVS.
Has it been reported how long he had been in New Orleans?
He drove to New Orleans last week. He was found with fake doccuments and they think he was trying to flee to Cuba, which has no extradition treaty with the US.

As to Durst's mental condition: I wonder if he had a psych eval while awaiting trial for the murder of Morris Black. Since Durst was occasionally posing as a woman while living in Galveston, that would have been the perfect time to claim that he has "multiple personalities" and use that as a defense if a psychiatrist had been found who would testify to such.

But IANAL so :moo:

I just read that his attorney said "Let's go to LA for a trial". So casual that it sounds like they are going to play win a basketball tournament or something. So cocky.

Potential new charges in New Orleans may delay Durst extradition

They are guessing it could be for the .38 pistol he had when arrested in the lobby of the JW Marriott

I guess the jury believed in his self defense theory.

I don't have a link, but I read today on twitter that he possibly has some kind of cancer in his brain.

"Out-lawyered" is absolutely the best way to describe it. The fact that Black's head was never found also helped, because we'll never know the trajectory of the bullet. Maybe he was shot execution style like Susan Berman.

But there is no way I believe that Durst and Black were "best friends". I don't think Morris Black had any friends, and Robert Durst had already killed the only friend he had.

Yep. In Jinxed they say Black used the Internet daily at the Library. Possibly he discovered his neighbors true identity

Chip Lewis at one point claimed Durst had Asperger syndrome
