Details of Disappearance
Gipson was last seen in Jacksonville, Texas on August 22, 2020. He told his mother he was going out for the evening. He may have been headed to a party in Palestine, Texas. He never returned and has never been heard from again. The next day his mother reported him missing.

Less than two weeks after Gipson disappeared, four residents of Palestine were charged in his case: Derrick Deon Hicks Jr., Breonna Marie Jimenez, Jermaryon D'Shun Lane and Cameron Dewayne Shead. Lane was initially unnamed in the press because he was a minor, but his name was published after a judge ruled he should stand trial as an adult.

Photos of the four suspects are posted with this case summary. They were all originally charged with aggravated kidnapping, but Shead's charge was later upgraded to capital murder. They are awaiting trial, and authorities stated they were not being cooperative in the investigation.

Gipson is a 2020 graduate of Jacksonville High School, where he played on the football team. Foul play is suspected in his case due to the circumstances involved.

Man oh man. So young. Truly hope she didn't ruin her life over this! Why in the hell would something so stupid happen? I guess we will have to wait for more info on the intent..
I think the fact that she’s not talking, shows she’s right where she belongs. I find it very odd that not 1 is talking, which means all played a large roll. Obviously the police must have a lot of information to be holding them and moving forward.

I'm confused as to why he was a target. Was he known to have money? He was 18 and had just graduated high school from what I understand. Palestine and Jacksonville aren't high end places either so what made him the target of something like this? Sometimes people are the worst of the worst. Losers can't get a job and earn their own money. I hope Tyress is found soon.

Yesterday pretrial started for this case. 4 people arrested. Only one with capitol charges against them. Still no idea where his body is. I wish they would let him come home to his Mama.

After over three hours of deliberations, Cameron Shead, of Palestine, was found not guilty on the charge of capital murder as well as the lesser offenses of murder and aggravated kidnapping in connection with the disappearance of 18-year-old Tyress Gipson, who was last seen in August 2020.

His trial began Monday in the 369th District Court at the Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk with Shead pleading not guilty.
Shead's attorney Jeff Hass said the jury took their duty very seriously and "did what they were supposed to do."

"Evidently, they found the evidence wasn't sufficient to send someone away to prison for the rest of their life," Hass said. "I'm very proud of what the jury did."

In a response to the verdict, Cherokee County District Attorney Elmer Beckworth said that "as an officer of the court, it is our duty to always respect the jury's verdict."
