LOL dear they are Flight Attendents. Calling them Stewardess will get you the bad chicken meal and warm coke.

Isn't airline food already that way? lol...

The airlines sure have gotten rude these days ... hubby and I have flown out several times this year and the last trip we took we had the WORSE service ever.. Very rude employees all the way around... We even flew 1st class (paid big bucks to do so, too) and the service SUCKED!!!

SHe probably refused to hang up her cell phone. They won't tolerate that because it interferes with the planes electronics during takeoff and landing. Can you imagine anybody being more worried about missing a call than not crashing???

Also, I have vowed that I will tell everyone I know for the rest of my life "NEVER FLY ON CONTINENTAL AIRLINES". They wrecked our honeymoon and screwed us over 4 times on one trip.
Ok...YOU brought the subject up...so now you have to spill! Tell us about the trip. Pretty please!?!?! :D

...(no offense to any stewardess I have a good friend who is and she was screwed out of retirement she put into TWICE by airlines going bankrupt like American) ...
I could be wrong, but I don't think that American Airlines has filed for bankruptcy. :) I think that US Airways and Delta have filed. US Airways' employees, I believe, lost a lot of their pension. I imagine the same will happen with the Delta employee.

Unfortunately, many companies are opting away from pensions. That's why we are saving what we can, just in case this happens to us.

I remember the story about so many of the nation's "mega-churches" actually being closed on Christmas, was Olsteen's one of them? (It's truly a dumb idea, obviously, lol.)

I don't care for him and his watered down church. (No crosses, no mentions of Jesus, etc.) He is a poor man's Robert Schuller at best. Reminds me a LOT of the old televangelists, in many ways. Sounds like his wife just isn't as good of an actor as he is, perhaps. *shrugs* Dunno, maybe he is truly a nice person, at least. Just not my gut feeling.

It sounds like we are aware of two different people who are really the same.
I love to listen to Joel Osteen. Everytime I've listened to him he talks about Jesus...God... being born again....and living our lives according to God's word.
I watched his father, John, up until the time he passed away. I have the ultimate respect for Joel and love his sense of humor. I feel God's spirit when I listen to him preach. I was thrilled when Joel took over the ministry when we lost his dad.

TheShadow...I would love to hear what happened on your trip to make you
despise Continental Airlines.

I can't stand flying, and I have found that in my last 2-3 trips, service has gone WAAAAAY down on many airlines.

Okay I'll spill. We were leaving for our trip to Belize from the west coast on the 6am flight with a connection in Houston. We got to the airport at 5 am before the ticket counter even opened. As soon as it opened we were the first customers in line and the ticket guy took one look at our tickets and said "you're not getting to Belize today". We said "what???" He said "your flight is delayed 1 hour and you'll miss your connection." I said "Well put us on the next flight". He said "I can't do that, you'll have to do that when you get to Houston" I said "By then it will probably be sold out". He said "Sorry". So we go upstairs to wait for our flight and about a half hour before it gets there, I talk to the boarding agent and told her our problem. She says,"oh, he could have put you on a later flight, go back down there and ask for a supervisor, or when you get to Houston ask a supervisor to put you on another airline". So I go down there, there is now about 85 people in line and only 20 minutes till they call our flight! So we get on our plane, fly 2.5 hours to Houston, miss our connection to Belize by 15 minutes. Stand in line for 45 minutes to see a ticket agent and SURPRISE the afternoon flight on Continental is full. I ask to be put on the other Belize airline and am told "we don't do that". I ask for a supervisor and am told I'll have to get out of line walk about 1/2 mile to another continental "customer service" counter (service-what a joke), wait in that line and ask for a supervisor over there. I do that and am told that we can't get on the later flight on the other airline because it is now full. Meanwhile Mr Shadow goes to find our luggage. It never shows up on the carousel for our flight. He asks the luggage counter guy and the idiot @-hole says that our luggage went to Belize without us. I say that is impossible since the plane to Belize took off before our plane landed!! So we go to the lost luggage office and wait and wait and finally they find our luggage.

It's now 2:30 or 3:00 pm and we ask for a hotel voucher since the next flight to Belize available is tomorrow and, guess what, the morning flight is full! So we're booked on the afternoon flight! So we get to spend hopurs hangiong out at the lovely airport hotel until the afternoon flight. We finally get to belize at about 5:00 pm the following day, having missed the entire first day of our honeymoon. So honeymoon is great until time to go home.

Once again we get screwed over and our flight is delayed. The plane had not even left the US when it was scheduled to be leaving Belize. So we wait in this crazy 3rd world airport, where all the shops and food places all close and we're stranded there for hours with no idea what's going on since the ticket counter closed up and went home. Eventually our plane arrives at about 10 pm after waiting for 5 or 6 hours. Needless to say we missed our connection in, you guessed it, Houston. We get back to Houston at about 1 am and we're told we have confirmed seats on the 9 am flight. We get to the airport before 8 am and are told our tickets are standby, not confirmed, and that they don't think there are any seats because everyone has checked in. I get furious and demand a supervisor. Supervisor says we can get confirmed seats on the 5 pm flight. What are we supposed to do in an airport for 9 hours! No amount of hollering and fussing gets me anywhere. So we sit in the danged airport for 9 hours and guess what?? Our 5 pm flight is delayed until 6:45. We finally get back home about 9pm. So we spent 4 days of our honeymoon sitting in airports pissed as h@ll!! NEVER ever fly Continental, I never got so much as an apology or even an acknowledgement that they had any responsibility for the problems.

I guess I am not the only one who feels that way about her. :o It does not shock me they said Joel was professional. I think of him as a calm and very kind man dedicated to God, his family and church. JMO.

Pushing.. Like I said in an earlier post. I get the impression that she thinks she is smarter and classier than the rest of us. I do not agree. I think most people do not agree either. ;) I do feel embarrassed for him though. :(

From the article:
"Steele said Victoria Osteen was upset about liquid on her pull-down tray and asked a flight attendant to have it cleaned. When the attendant, who was carrying paperwork to the cockpit, told her she couldn't do it immediately, Osteen replied, "Fine, get me a stewardess who can," Steele said.

She said Victoria Osteen pushed a flight attendant and tried to get into the cockpit. Passengers quoted in the Colorado paper did not address those details."

She is quite fortunate that there wasn't an air marshal on the plane to shoot her butt if she tried getting into the cockpit!

The book is great. I think she will love it. I certainly did! I hate for everyone to think less of him just because she is acting like a fool. I am sure that he does not approve of her acting like this and is quite embarrassed. Of course...this is my opinion only. :o

I was just telling my mother that the other night i was watching joel and he was talking about how he hates negativity and he said you can even ask victoria i dont like to hear it, and i thought to myself, hmmmm i wonder what kind of woman she is.. I mean i only see whats on tv...It does seem though that when you are in the "spotlight" people look closer at you and she should try to remember that, these things could ruin his reputation, although i do like him alot....

I'd suggest spending your money on The Purpose Driven Life over Olsteen's book, but that's just my opinion, lol. I find that pastor more legit, for some reason, and the PDL is right on the money, in my view.
