<<According to reports, he told his mother he was going to the store to cash some checks on Aug. 8, 1990 and never returned.

He was last seen at Parkdale Mall in Beaumont. Stonecipher’s black 1985 Chevrolet pickup was found a few weeks later in a heavily wooded area in Kountze on Highway 770. The vehicle was still in good condition but the keys were missing. However, his wallet and driver’s license was found inside the pickup truck.>>

<<Stonecipher always informed his mother when he was going out of town. However, he was between jobs at the time of his disappearance.

Investigators would later discover a message on an answering machine telling him to report to a new job. But, he never made it.>>

<< At the time of his disappearance he was described as 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a tattoo of his name on his right arm and a scar on his chin, forehead and left hand.

When he left home he was wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts and flipflops.>>

Just to add more into this case,
I had posted a missing persons flyer for William Stonecipher last night on my Locks of Reunification page and someone had commented saying that he looked similar to Ronald Bax missing from Canada. I did do ancestorial research and did not find a connection between the two. However, it is worth noting that both of William's parents have since passed away. On find a grave, William Christopher Stonecipher is not mentioned on either of his parents pages, however, ancestry.com makes mention of the connection and it also states that William Stonecipher died in August 1990.

William left home to cash some checks, but he was unemployed at the time? So who issued him these checks? Was William doing odd jobs for the time being until he found steady employment?

Regardless of where the checks came from, I also notice that he went to cash them at a store and not a bank. Do we know what store? Could someone at the store (whether customer or employee) have witnessed the transaction, seen an opportunity, and followed him to his car? Though, why go through the trouble of abducting William and dumping his car if the motive was a spontaneous robbery?

Kountze, where William's car was found, is only a 25-minute drive from Parkdale Mall so his car could've been abandoned there that very same day.
