More about Roberta Mumma: She was from Pennsylvania, but her last known whereabouts was possibly Tennessee.


Mumma was a 1976 graduate of Ephrata High School in Pennsylvania. In articles published in The Ephrata Review and the Intelligencer Journal, she received multiple scholarships to attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in physical therapy after graduating.

“Miss Mumma has worked as a volunteer for the Easter Seal Society of Lancaster. In school, she was active in cheering squads, pinochle club, student council, Girl's Club and intramural sports,” a June 3, 1976 article in The Ephrata Review stated.

In the 1986 obituary of Mumma’s father, her location was listed as unknown. When her maternal grandfather died in 1997, a family member posted a public notice in multiple Pennsylvania newspapers notifying Mumma that she had been named as a beneficiary in her grandfather’s will.

In 1990, Roberta Mumma of Rainbow, TX, was listed as having unclaimed money in the Texas Treasury Unclaimed Money Fund. Rainbow is 7 min from Glen Rose, and its peak population was about 121 people--it's been a long time, but would someone remember her? Glen Rose had about 2,000 people in 1980; per Wikipedia, "The nuclear plant dominated the local economy. Other chief industries include farming, ranching, and tourism." Somervell County court records online show no results for Roberta, but I'm unsure how far back they go.

I noticed in the scholarship newspaper article mentioned above that she was living with her "guardian," her married sister, at the time (1976). It seems that her mother passed away in 1971; perhaps this is related.

Confusingly, there is another Roberta Mumma from Pennsylvania, so be careful with researching. I thought I had found a husband and child, but they're not the same person. They have different middle initials and nicknames.
