A Texas man accused of beating and starving a woman he met on the dating app Bumble was released from jail after posting $50,000 bond, according to reports.

Fox station KRIV in Houston, Texas reported that Zachary Kent Mills, 21, was arrested by Harris County deputies last week and charged with first-degree aggravated kidnapping.

Deputies with the Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 4 responded to a call in Tomball, Texas on Dec. 29 after reports that a woman was assaulted by a man she met online, later identified as Mills.

After an investigation, deputies determined the victim was at Mill’s residence five days earlier and allegedly held against her will.

The woman also claimed to deputies she was sexually assaulted multiple times before finally being able to seek help from a neighbor.

''The victim, identified in court documents as “J.W.,” told investigators that she had met a man – later identified as Mills – on Bumble and the two “started a romantic relationship,” the document states. It was not immediately clear from the document when the victim and Mills met in-person for the first time.

J.W. told authorities that she agreed to go to Mills’ apartment located in the 8000 block of Augusta Pines on Christmas Eve and that “immediately upon entering” Mills’ apartment he “attempted to start to have sexual intercourse” with her.

“When [J.W.] denied the defendant’s sexual advances, he immediately began to physically assault her and would not let her leave the residence,” the affidavit states. “[J.W.] advised when he assaulted her, he would strike her using closed fist. Defendant would also bit her on the neck and face. [J.W.] stated when the defendant’s hands got tired from hitting her, he would grab a screwdriver and would strike her with the handle of the screwdriver causing serious bodily injury.”

The victim alleged that she made several attempts to leave Mills’ home, but each time she did, Mills allegedly stopped her and assaulted her again. She further claimed that throughout the duration of the time she was held against her will, Mills refused to provide her with any food or water.''

5 days without water? Don't humans only survive 3 days without water? Is the timeline accurate?

He was rejected for sex and decided to hold her hostage and take what he wanted. Sounds very very Toxic.....

I am teaching my son that women owe him nothing. Even after a date, even after paying for a dinner, you are owed nothing.
Of course.

Under some circumstances, they can survive longer without it. She may have licked up sweat, etc. I also wonder if he allowed her to use the bathroom.

I also wonder if he's done anything like this before.

Obviously the individual is a sociopath. I think the issue goes far beyond simply not being taught that one "isn't owed sex in exchange for paying for a date" - that honestly seems pretty commonsensical to me.
You would think, but sadly it isnt. Look at majority of the posts on here. It's toxic..... possession issues. All starts with the entitlement towards women.

The attorney for Mills gave a rather odd statement:
“We have a very strong stance that a lot of these did not occur,” Denuna reportedly told the station. “I think that will show that there’s more to it in their relationship. I think it will show that there’s a history between them. That they they’ve spent numerous occasions together amongst other people, whether it’s friends, family that can vouch for their relationship from what they’ve seen as a third-party witness, that can vouch for their characters.”
Why is his statement seeming to really stress the fact that they may have been dating longer than she claims and that they were in public or with other people together many times too? Like the things he did are only illegal if it's within the first 5 dates but after that anything goes legally speaking.... he can't be that dumb.

Going for the "they were in a BDSM relationship and shes a masochist" defense?

Just focusing on the timeline/length of their relationship in an attempt to prove that if she fibbed about when they met, or how, or whether or not they ever went out as a couple with others would then cause doubt about her being honest about the rest of her claims?

Just spitballing ideas/trying to figure out what this defense lawyer's angle is.

Edited to add source of quote:

Maybe we're once again headed to the "consensual play gone a bit too far" angle that has been seen (too often) recently in cases of women murdered via strangulation.

In this case it would seem a steep hill to climb, but I'm regularly surprised by being surprised in such cases. And not in a good way.

Harris County Criminal Court Judge Genesis Draper approved the deal, and Zachary Kent Mills, 22, was sentenced to two years of probation and 80 hours of community service and has to give a women’s shelter a $50 donation, Law&Crime reported.

Wow..so was this consensual and went too far or is Harris county as horrible as it seems to be? I can’t fathom this light of a sentence..
